Columbus River Dragons – Broadcasting & Media Relations Internship (2025-26 Season)
The Columbus River Dragons are seeking Broadcasting & Media Relations Interns for the 2025-26 season. This internship is designed for students and recent graduates who are passionate about live sports broadcasting, digital media, and communications. Interns will work directly with the River Dragons’ Broadcasting & Media Relations Department, assisting with all aspects of game-day operations while gaining hands-on experience in live production, content creation, and media relations.
Please note: This is an unpaid, onsite internship. College credit is available for qualified students.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist with the setup, operation, and breakdown of broadcast equipment and press box for all home games.
- Operate and monitor live streaming platforms, including OBS Studio and other broadcast software, ensuring smooth, professional game-day streams.
- Capture, edit, and distribute in-game clips and highlights for both home and road games.
- Produce postgame highlight packages for distribution to media partners and digital platforms.
- Assist in writing game recaps, player features, and press releases for the River Dragons’ website and social media.
- Support the production of pregame, intermission, and postgame shows with the ability to recap and preview games.
- Help manage media availability, press conferences, and coordinate with local/national outlets.
- Contribute to additional content creation (video, graphics, or social media) as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- Must be able to work all regular season River Dragons home games, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Must be onsite in Columbus, GA for the duration of the internship (housing/transportation not provided).
- Must be enrolled in, or recently graduated from, a four-year college or graduate program (Sports Media, Broadcasting, Communications, or related field preferred).
- Strong technical proficiency, especially with OBS Studio and live streaming platforms.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, Photoshop, Audition) or similar software is a plus.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and writing skills.
- Ability to work independently in high-pressure, fast-paced environments.
- Prior sports media or broadcasting experience strongly preferred.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS
- This position is unpaid, but designed to provide valuable hands-on experience in sports broadcasting and media relations.
- College credit is available (must be arranged through your academic institution).
