Position Overview:

The Director of Facility Operations is responsible for the leadership and oversight of all arena operations, including staffing, ice installation and maintenance, facility conversions, and safety procedures. This role ensures NHL-quality standards for ice and event preparation while supervising full- and part-time operations staff.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee hiring, training, and supervision of all Operations Department staff.
Develop and enforce standard operating procedures, safety policies, and maintenance schedules.
Lead ice maintenance efforts, ensuring a top-tier NHL-quality surface.
Supervise ice resurfacing, dasher board setups, event conversions, and staging.
Schedule and manage day-to-day operations, ensuring timely execution and high-quality work.
Coordinate and document training on safety topics (e.g., fall protection, PPE, forklift).
Maintain operations equipment; assist in repair of resurfacing and other arena equipment.
Monitor facility conditions before, during, and after events, reporting on safety or performance issues.
Serve as Facility Manager on Duty and represent the department in meetings and planning sessions.
Maintain library of architectural and technical documentation.
Perform detailed pre/post event inspections, ensure equipment readiness and facility safety.
Lead monthly operations staff meetings and participate in leadership committees.

Required Qualifications:

Minimum 2 years of experience in a supervisory or management operations role.
Proven expertise in ice installation, maintenance, and resurfacing equipment.
Basic knowledge of HVAC, electrical, lighting, AV, and mechanical systems.
Working knowledge of computer programs such as Excel, Word, Access, CAD.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; must be insurable by company carrier.
Background check (criminal, driving, references) required.

Physical Requirements:

Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
Stand/walk on concrete or uneven surfaces for 4+ hours.
Work at heights above 10 feet and in cold/ice/freezing environments.
Climb ladders and access remote facility areas.
Operate forklifts, scissor lifts, and other heavy machinery.
Perform physically demanding labor including bending, kneeling, pushing/pulling, and crawling.

Preferred Experience:

Arena conversion and concert set-up (staging, glass, floor covering, etc.)
Preventative maintenance and repair of seating systems.
Experience working with vendors, contractors, and technical equipment.

Work Schedule:

Must be available to work nights, weekends, holidays, and long or irregular hours based on event needs.
