About the Role:
The Athens Rock Lobsters are searching for a dynamic and engaging Rock Lobster Ringleader (In-Game Emcee) to bring energy, charisma, and fun to our home games during the 2025–2026 season. As the voice and face of our game night experience, you will host live promotions, interact with fans, and help create unforgettable memories inside the Akins Ford Arena. This role is for someone who thrives in front of a crowd, can think on their feet, and is passionate about sports entertainment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the primary on-mic personality during home games, energizing the crowd and creating a welcoming, high-energy atmosphere.
- Host and narrate live promotions, contests, intermission games, and in-game features.
- Interact with fans of all ages, encouraging participation and boosting fan engagement through Pre-game, In-game, and Post Game
- Collaborate closely with the game presentation team (mascot, performers, DJ, camera ops, etc.) to execute scripted and spontaneous entertainment.
- Attend pre-game meetings and rehearsals; participate in soundchecks and run-throughs.
- Maintain professionalism and enthusiasm while handling live, unscripted moments with confidence.
- Follow a detailed game script and adapt quickly to any changes or unexpected moments.
- Memorize and deliver scripted content while improvising as needed.
- Represent the Rock Lobsters brand with positivity, humor, and approachability.
Qualifications:
- Prior experience in live hosting, performing, broadcasting, or fan-facing roles is preferred (1–3 years).
- Comfortable performing in front of large crowds with high energy and clarity.
- Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
- Able to handle high-pressure situations and quick changes on the fly.
- Strong understanding of timing, pacing, and crowd engagement.
- Knowledge of hockey is a plus, but not required.
- Must be available to attend at least 90% of home games (including nights, weekends, and holidays).
- Ability to stand for extended periods; lift and carry up to 25 lbs. as needed.
- Reliable transportation to and from Akins Ford Arena.
Bonus Skills (Not Required, but Awesome to Have):
- Experience with a mic or live sound equipment.
- Basic skating ability (though you won’t be required to skate in this role).
