About the Athens Rock Lobsters
The Athens Rock Lobsters are a professional minor league hockey team committed to delivering a top-tier sports and entertainment experience for our fans. We’re looking for detail-oriented and reliable individuals to join our game night staff as Off-Ice Officials. This is a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of official in-game statistics and records.
Position Summary
Off-Ice Officials are responsible for recording and tracking all in-game statistics and events during home games. This includes goals, assists, penalties, shots on goal, and other official stats. The role requires close attention to detail, the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, and strong knowledge of the game of hockey.
Responsibilities
- Accurately record all game events (goals, assists, penalties, shots on goal, faceoffs, etc.) in accordance with league standards.
- Operate the league’s official scoring system/software.
- Collaborate with the on-ice officials and other off-ice staff to ensure accuracy and consistency of information.
- Assist with managing the game clock and penalty clocks when assigned.
- Communicate effectively with statisticians, scorekeepers, timekeepers, and penalty box attendants.
- Verify and submit final game statistics to the league following each game.
- Maintain professionalism and neutrality at all times—no cheering or outward support for the home or visiting team.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of hockey rules, terminology, and scoring procedures.
- Prior experience in scorekeeping, timekeeping, or statistical tracking (preferred but not required).
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays based on the home game schedule.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Ability to remain focused for extended periods in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be at least 18 years old.
