The Florida Panthers enter the 2025-26 season as the two-time defending Stanley Cup Champions, having gone to the Stanley Cup Final in each of the past three seasons. The National Hockey League’s southernmost team, the Panthers have reached the postseason in a club-record six consecutive campaigns. The Panthers operate four facilities in Broward County, Florida: Amerant Bank Arena in Sunrise, the Panthers IceDen in Coral Springs, the new state-of-the-art practice facility Baptist Health IcePlex in Fort Lauderdale, as well as the renovated War Memorial Auditorium, which hosts concerts and events for the South Florida faithful.

 An organization with deep roots in the community, the Panthers are owned by Vincent J. Viola, a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and a veteran of the U.S. Army. Emphasizing a culture of selfless service both on and off the ice, the Panthers pillar program ‘Heroes Among Us’ honors a United States military veteran at every game and the Florida Panthers Foundation has four main focuses including veterans affairs, children's health and education, raising awareness for the endangered Florida panther and growing youth hockey.

 

Job Title: Facilities Engineer

Job Summary:
General facilities maintenance and repairs across multiple vocations including mechanical, plumbing, and general building repairs to name a few.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Repairs and maintenance of mechanical equipment e.g., fan coils, air handlers, exhaust fans, and pumps. Chiller Experience a plus.
  • Repair and maintenance of refrigeration equipment e.g., walk in coolers/freezer, reach in coolers, and ice makers.
  • Repair and maintenance of plumbing fixtures.
  • General maintenance such as repair / assemble furniture, minor drywall repair, minor flooring and cove repair replacement.
  • Assist with proper inventory control of parts and supplies as needed.
  • Assist with special projects involving construction or changes to the building or building systems.
  • Monitor building automation system proactively to prevent system issues.
  • Assist outside contractors as required.
  • Have the ability to identify hazardous materials or working conditions and report them to supervisor.
  • Maintain a safe work environment. Ensure safety precautions are always taken. Report any unsafe condition to supervisor promptly.
  • Use computerized work order system to interpret and prioritize work orders. Execute work orders and close in system upon completion.
  • Additional projects tasks and events as assigned by supervisor.
  • Basic electrical trouble-shooting using the appropriate meters and tools

 

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Have a minimum of five years’ experience in vocations as listed above.
  • Universal or other EPA Certification (or willingness to get certified).
  • Be proficient in the use of all types of hand tools and soldering torches.
  • Brazing and Welding / fabrication abilities a plus.

  • Ability to read, decipher blueprints, schematics and construction documents.
  • Effective communicator, written and verbal in English.
  • Willingness to learn and expand knowledge in all areas of event venue facilities.

 

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:
This is a non-exempt (hourly) position. Must be able to work flexible hours, nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
