KEY PRIORITIES/PROJECTS:

  • Lead communication with all OEG departments with respect to video production needs
  • Oversee all video production and live streaming technology and innovation
  • Optimize reach and frequency of video content for all OEG brands (Oilers, Rogers Place, ICE District)
  • Responsible for Oilers TV video player traffic monitoring and adjustments, ensuring delivery of 1.1 million+ video starts per month

 

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Oversee the creation of engaging video that appeals to existing fans and attracts new ones
  • Develop an online production schedule for two video producers and two on-camera reporters, including game nights and travel
  • Responsible for all areas of video production, including script writing, location selection, directing, sound, lighting, filming and editing
  • Script, produce, direct livestream broadcasts including press conferences and shows (panels)
  • Produce the majority of features for Oilers on-location, at home games and on the road (requiring two to three trips per season)
  • Develop and manage regular video features (The Drill, Around The Rink, Ask An Oiler, etc.)
  • Liaise with key stakeholders (corporate partnerships, community foundation) on video projects
  • Work within a budget to order camera gear and accessories as required
  • Ensure that damaged equipment gets repaired
  • Foster development of video producers and reporters through consistent coaching and feedback while upholding OEG brand standards
  • Monitor EdmontonOilers.com, NHL.com and social media platforms for quality control of content
  • Compile and assess video analytics from EdmontonOilers.com and social media platforms to determine how content is performing
  • Liaise with Disney Streaming Services and NHL on content plans, maintaining strong working relationships with both key partners

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in broadcast journalism or similar field, combined with other industry specific training and education
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in digital media, specifically video production
  • Knowledge of live streaming technology including Dejero EnGo and Tricaster TC1 and live streaming platforms including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter
  • Experience operating a Sony FS7 camera
  • Expert-level editing skills on Adobe Premiere Pro with knowledge of Avid an asset
  • Experience managing a team of content producers and corresponding budget
  • Working knowledge of Adobe After Effects and Photoshop
  • Communicates effectively, builds employee relationships, and provides support to all key stakeholders to ensure achievement of OEG goals and objectives
  • Self-motivated planner with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work under time pressures while maintaining a positive attitude
  • Ability to work long, unpredictable hours on evenings, weekends and holidays
  • Must possess a valid passport for team travel across North America
