About the Role:

The Event Electrician will primarily be responsible for coordinating the planning and execution of electrical requirements for various events held in Rogers Place and ICE District. Reporting to the Director, Operations & Maintenance, this position will work closely with the Event Operations team to deliver world class events across the campus.

 

Your Focus in this Role:

  • Serve as primary on-site Electrician for Rogers Place & ICE District events
  • Working closely with the Event Operations team, responsible for planning and executing Electrical Services for concerts and special events at OEG Sports & Entertainment venues
  • Train, lead and support part time Electricians and contractors with a focus on event support and services
  • Train Part time electricians on events - lighting controls, show power rooms, Camlock connections etc.
  • Support Supervisor, Electrical with Repair and Maintenance of Electrical Systems including distribution, lighting systems, HVAC motors, and fire alarm Building Maintenance System, emergency power, and ice plant in Rogers Place and Ice District Plaza
  • Develop and facilitate operating procedures and maintenance programs that conform to manufacturer’s recommendations for systems, purchased equipment and corporate standards, which are customized to the specific needs of the facility
  • Daily inspections of lighting system pregame and concerts including Douglas Lighting, Lutron, Musco and related systems
  • Maintain Computerized Maintenance Management System for electrical
  • Inspect operating function to evaluate efficiency methods
  • Investigate, analyze and resolve operational and maintenance issues
  • Record and maintain accurate readings in logbooks
  • Available on “on-call” basis during off hours for emergency situations

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Knowledgeable in all regulations such as building codes, fire and health department regulations, OH&S, etc.
  • High School or Technical School diploma or combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Valid Province of Alberta Journeyman Electrician certificate is required
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills: highly organized, results oriented with the ability to be flexible, and to work well under pressure, strong level of initiative required
  • Strong technical abilities with Microsoft programs and familiarization with computerized maintenance systems an asset
  • Leads by example by displaying a high standard of performance with the ability to communicate these expectations to the team to achieve above expectation results
  • High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons and facts
  • Knowledgeable in show power for concert and ice arena cam lock assemblies
  • Demonstrated knowledge of sports and entertainment facility operation is an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical and electrical blueprints and schematics
  • Must be available for shift work, weekends and holidays
