About the Role:

Reporting directly to the Manager, Accounting, this position will assist in the overall preparation and processing of all Edmonton Oilers Community Foundation (EOCF) accounting. This includes managing accounts payable and receivable functions. This role is essential in maintaining strong accounting controls and data entry. The Coordinator, Accounting will be responsible for reconciling reports to ensure timely preparation of financial, regulatory and Board reporting. They will assist the EOCF with administrative accounting and business functions including tax receipting and fundraising reconciliations.

 

Your Focus in this Role:

  • Preparation and processing of EOCF invoices, payables, receivables and expenses reports including maintaining accurate General Ledger postings and review of entries
  • Maintains day-to-day accounting processes including posting journal entries and preparing general ledger reconciliations such as bank reconciliations
  • Support in the preparation of weekly cash flows
  • Maintain accounting controls by supporting Finance Department policies and procedures
  • Prepares and files GST and income tax information returns
  • Assisting to reconcile foundation fund accounting, including posting interfund transfer entries
  • Provides inputs to the annual budget processes, as needed
  • Assist with annual financial statement audit, including preparation and review of audit working papers
  • Support in the reconciliation of online and in venue 50/50 sales
  • Assist in the reconciliation of accounting systems to the Raiser’s Edge database, ensuring accuracy in recording donations in and out
  • Assist in creating reports on revenues and donations to support monthly reporting metrics
  • Support the annual tax receipting process
  • Support regulatory reporting requirements with AGLC, including amendments, use of proceeds, annual reports and license applications
  • Prepare and reconcile events, merchandise sales and auctions
  • Other administrative accounting tasks

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting is In lieu of formal education, experience in a related field may be considered
  • 1-3 years in an accounting background or related field is required
  • Experience with computerized accounting software (i.e. Microsoft Dynamics Great Plains, Solver, etc.) and proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to manage large transaction volumes while maintaining high attention to detail and
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills with the ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with internal and external parties
  • Deadline oriented with the ability to thrive in a fast paced, dynamic environment
