About the Role:
Reporting directly to the Manager, Accounting, this position is responsible for assisting with the full cycle accounting process for OEGSE’s real estate and property management businesses.
Your Focus in this Role:
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements for multiple properties
- Prepare and analyze property-level financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets and cash-flow analysis
- Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, intercompany transactions, and general ledgers
- Prepare and file GST returns and supporting working papers
- Assist with construction-related payables as required, including invoice processing, workflow review, draw compilation, cheque processing, and other accounts payable functions
- Verify invoices for accuracy and compliance with financial policies and procedures
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Provide input to the annual budget process, as needed
- Review third-party property management statements for accuracy and completeness
- Review CAM reconciliations, lease accounting, and residential accounting
- Support month-end close deliverables for assigned properties, including reconciliations and journal entries
- Support full-cycle accounting for a portfolio of properties (commercial/residential/mixed-use), producing monthly financial statements and variance analysis
- Complete monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts and resolve reconciling items promptly
- Other administrative accounting tasks

Education, Experience and Skills:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in accounting
- Minimum 3 years of accounting experience (or related field)
- Proficiency with accounting and property management software (Yardi)
- Experience in real estate, property management, or construction accounting
- Effective communication skills and the ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with staff and third-party managers
- Understanding of concepts and underlying details, ability to identify errors, and foresight to strategize and make decisions with consideration to both operational and financial implications
- CPA designation completed or actively in progress is considered an asset.
- Experience with additional accounting software (e.g., Great Plains, MR) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills is considered an asset.
