About the Role:

Reporting directly to the Director, Finance, this position is responsible for assisting with the full cycle accounting process for OEG Real Estate, Katz Group Real Estate and subsidiary companies.

 

Your Focus in this Role:

  • Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly & annual financial statements for multiple properties
  • Prepare and analyze property-level financial reports, including P&L statements, balance sheets and cash-flow analysis
  • Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, intercompany transactions, and general ledgers
  • Prepares and files GST returns and supporting working papers
  • Verifies invoices and verifies compliance with financial policies and procedures
  • Prepares and posts journal entries
  • Provides input to the annual budget processes, as needed
  • Supports property & asset management teams
  • Review 3rd party property management statements for accuracy and completeness
  • Review CAM reconciliation, lease accounting and residential accounting
  • Other administrative accounting tasks

Education, Experience and Skills:

  • Post-Secondary Degree or Diploma in Accounting is required
  • Minimum five (5) years in an accounting background or related field is required
  • CA/CPA Designation will be considered an asset
  • Proficiency with accounting and property management software (Yardi)
  • Experience with other computerized accounting software (i.e. Great Plains, MR, etc.) and strong skills in Microsoft Excel
  • Experience in real estate, property management or construction accounting required
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to build and maintain excellent relationships with staff and 3rd party managers
  • Understanding of concepts and underlying details, ability to identify errors, and foresight to strategize and make decisions with consideration to both operational and financial implications
