The Wichita Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL’s San Jose Sharks, is looking for motivated, currently enrolled college students to join our team as interns for the 2025–26 hockey season! This is your chance to gain hands-on experience in the world of professional sports, grow your skills, and work behind the scenes on game nights and special events. This is an unpaid internship, opportunity to receive college credit or just gain experience!

 

·       Help bring theme nights and in-game promotions to life

·       Engage with fans and distribute giveaways

·       Deliver excellent customer service in a fast-paced environment

·        Greet and escort special guests (e.g., anthem singers, puck droppers) to the ice

·       Provide support to other game night team members as needed

 

·       Be the first point of contact for fans at games

·       Answer common questions and support game-day needs

·       Sell Chuck-A-Pucks and distribute Family Four Pack items

 

·       Assist with ticket printing for players’ family and friends

·       Provide complimentary tickets to Season Ticket Holders as needed

·       Gather and plan content for social channels, especially IPhone video content

·       Capture sponsor and in-arena content

·       Help grow the digital presence of the team and fan engagement

·       Organize and plan a content calendar

·       Experience in graphic design a plus

·       Must have own camera

·       Label, organize, and manage content

·       Capture giveaway winner photos

·       Help tell the story of the Thunder through visuals 

·       Prior knowledge of Adobe programs is a bonus!

·       Assist with organizing, stocking, and keeping store organized before, during and after games.

·       Complete customer transactions, answer merchandise questions, knowledgeable of current sales and promotions

·       Assist with inventory of new items as they are received, maintain an accurate record of inventory of items in Shopify throughout the season.

·       Help organize and fulfill DASH auctions, online orders, and giveaways as needed

 

·       Under supervision of Thunder staff, represent the Thunder at community events around Wichita including mascot, player and Thunder Ice Girls appearances

·       Serve as mascot handler for T-Dog and T-Pup when necessary

·       Assist with thank you/follow up communications with community event contacts

·       Hands on, behind the scenes experiences

·       Office hours  (Optional, available for those that want to learn more/be more involved)

·       Letter of Recommendation at completion of your internship in addition to college credit
