Position Overview:
The Wheeling Nailers are seeking a passionate and reliable individual to join our Game Operations team as a Music Operator for the 2025–26 hockey season. This position plays a key role in enhancing the in-game atmosphere through strategic music playback and audio cues. The ideal candidate will bring energy, timing, and creativity to every game, helping to create an unforgettable fan experience.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate music playback and audio cues during all home games in coordination with the game script and live events
- Maintain proper timing of music beds, goal songs, penalties, power plays, timeouts, and other in-game prompts
- Collaborate closely with the Game Operations team, PA announcer, mascot, promo team, and video crew to ensure a seamless game day experience
- Assist in setup, testing, and troubleshooting of audio equipment prior to each game
- Stay in tune with fan engagement trends and suggest new music or audio content as needed
- Adhere to team branding, timing guidelines, and NHL/ECHL regulations
Required Qualifications:
- Strong working knowledge of hockey rules and gameplay is a must (e.g., penalties, power plays, icing, offsides, etc.)
- Prior DJ experience, live music operating, or relevant audio control experience strongly preferred
- Working knowledge of music/audio playback systems
- Strong sense of timing, situational awareness, and crowd energy
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays as scheduled (based on game schedule)
- Reliability, attention to detail, and a team-oriented mindset
- Passion for hockey and live entertainment is a plus
Compensation:
This is a paid seasonal, part-time position. Rate to be discussed based on experience.
