Responsibilities:
The Director of Marketing calls for a dynamic marketer that has experience in promoting events through targeted and measurable strategies. The position is responsible for the planning and implementing of the Nailers marketing strategy including branding, ticket sales, partnership marketing and social and digital media. The Director of Marketing acts as a liaison and works in collaboration with all team members, events, guests and other Wheeling Nailers’ stakeholders to ensure brand alignment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- This position is responsible for the planning and implementation of the Nailers marketing strategy including branding, merchandise/ticket sales, corporate activation and social/digital media.
- Graphic Design experience, with a strong background with Adobe Creative Suite. Must be able to create a variety of graphic images for use in social media, Scoreboard and Sponsor activations.
- Build and execute data-driven campaigns that grow attendance, drive ticket and merchandise sales, and expand the Club’s reach across digital and traditional channels.
- Collaborate with internal departments and external partners to deliver actionable market research, data insights, and recommendations that strengthen revenue-generating strategies.
- Plan, purchase, and manage all advertising and promotional campaigns across radio, print, television, digital, and out-of-home media, ensuring strong ROI and consistent messaging.
- Oversee all creative and branded assets, including advertisements, signage, promotional items, uniforms, digital content, and merchandise design consultation.
- Lead fan research, surveys, and customer feedback initiatives to continuously improve the Club’s communication and marketing effectiveness.
- Manage and grow audience databases, ensuring targeted, accurate, and effective email and digital communication campaigns.
- Maintain brand integrity by reviewing and approving all materials that use the Club’s marks, likeness, or intellectual property.
- Develop, track, and manage department budgets to ensure resources are allocated efficiently and goals are achieved.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in marketing, Communications, Business, Sport Management, or a related field preferred
- 3+ years of progressive marketing or communications experience, ideally within sports, entertainment, or hospitality.
- Experience utilizing various Adobe Suite programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, Lightroom (Classic), etc
- Demonstrated success developing and executing strategic marketing plans that deliver measurable growth in line with organizational goals.
- Advanced experience with digital marketing tools and platforms such as Google Ads/Ad Manager, Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, Tag Manager, SEO/SEM tools, and CRM or marketing automation systems (Vozzi, StellarAlgo, or similar)
- Skilled in paid media strategy, campaign optimization, and audience segmentation across digital and traditional channels.
- Excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into actionable marketing tactics.
- High-level communication, collaboration, and presentation skills with the ability to work effectively across departments and with executive leadership.
- Strong cross-functional project management abilities and comfort operating in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Proficient in using and managing content across key social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, X (Twitter), YouTube, TikTok and other emerging channels.
- Passion for sports, live events, and creating meaningful connections between teams, fans, and the community.
- Must be adaptable with the ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
- Must be able to work flexible hours including nights, weekends and holidays.
