Youth Sports Instructor
Role Summary
The Youth Sports Instructor will assist the Youth Sports Coordinator in all on-site and off-site camps, clinics, and youth engagement activities. This role assists with the development, execution, and evaluation of the youth sports programs. Teaching skills, fostering a love for the game, and promoting good sportsmanship are key to sucesss. This role works both game days and non-game days and requires a flexible schedule that will require some evenings, weekends and holidays.
This role will be filled for our upcoming Toledo Walleye season!
Essential Responsibilities
Role Summary
The Youth Sports Instructor will assist the Youth Sports Coordinator in all on-site and off-site camps, clinics, and youth engagement activities. This role assists with the development, execution, and evaluation of the youth sports programs. Teaching skills, fostering a love for the game, and promoting good sportsmanship are key to sucesss. This role works both game days and non-game days and requires a flexible schedule that will require some evenings, weekends and holidays.
This role will be filled for our upcoming Toledo Walleye season!
Essential Responsibilities
- Assist in the development, execution, and evaluation of youth sports programming designed to increase participation in baseball and hockey while supporting organizational game-growth initiatives.
- Lead and instruct participants through program activities, including introductions, warm-ups, skill development, drills, and character-building components.
- Support the planning and delivery of community-based and in-venue youth sports events, including camps, clinics, festivals, and grassroots initiatives.
- Facilitate and oversee skill stations during camps, clinics, and special events to ensure a positive and engaging learning environment.
- Deliver an exceptional participant experience by fostering a fun, inclusive, and supportive atmosphere for all attendees.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with participants, parents, coaches, schools, and community organizations to promote program awareness and engagement.
Qualifications and Experience
- Must be at least a high school senior.
- Prefer to have prior coaching/playing/officiating background.
Skills and Competencies
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Must have excellent customer service and organizational skills.
- Must possess analytic, strategic, communications, and interpersonal skills.
- Must be willing to work long hours, including days, nights, weekends, and holidays throughout the position timeline (October-April).
Working Environment
- Occasionally lifting camp items and props as needed, weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, etc. for the duration of the shift.
- Camp/game days will be outdoors in all types of weather conditions.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including days, nights, and weekends.
