Role Summary
This role is responsible for elevating the broadcast and storytelling capabilities of the Toledo Mud Hens and Toledo Walleye by creating exclusive and unique content focusing on the teams, players, facilities, FANatical experience, food & beverage, ticketing, and other business objectives. The team member will serve as the primary host for Toledo Walleye pregame shows and fill-in as needed for the Toledo Mudhens.

Essential Responsibilities

 
  • Serves as primary pregame show host and intermission/postgame reporter for all home Walleye games, including preseason, regular season and playoffs.
  • Accountable for hosting pregame show and in-game reporting for designated Toledo Mud Hens games as needed. 
  • Generate and develop story ideas by attending media days and practices on an ongoing basis for both the Toledo Walleye and Toledo Mud Hens. 
  • Responsible for creation of multi-platform content from inception to completion that centers around positive aspects of both the Toledo Mud Hens and Toledo Walleye, including writing, shooting, and editing.  

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in journalism, Sports Management, Communications, or related field. 
  • Minimum two years of experience as a sports television journalist. 
  • Minimum of two years of capturing and editing baseball and hockey game highlights. 
  • Proven track record of developing original sports content. 
  • Strong writing and on-air communication skills. 
  • Effective use of social media. 

Skills and Competencies

  • Professional on-air talent with the ability to develop storylines and create compelling content for fan consumption. 
  • Experience in live broadcast setting including producing and execution of rundowns. 
  • Must have the ability to work in a fast paced, changing environment and industry. 
  • Exhibits excellent attitude and thrives in a highly collaborative work environment. 

Working Environment

  • Frequently works nights, weekends, and holidays.  
  • Frequently remains in a stationary position for the duration of a shift. 
  • Frequently travels to baseball field, arena, and front office to work on current initiatives. 
  • Frequently uses office productivity equipment such as computers and printers.
