The Rapid City Rush are seeking a passionate, creative, and community-oriented individual to join our team as a Community Relations Coordinator. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the sports industry, contributing to the Rush brand through community initiatives. The Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for building and maintaining positive relationships between the Rush and the community in and around the Black Hills area. This role focuses on developing outreach initiatives (NHL Street, school programs, etc.), coordinating events, managing professional relationships, and promoting the organization’s mission through strategic communication and engagement efforts. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, detail-oriented, and have a working knowledge of event planning and management, and passionate about connecting with diverse audiences. 

Key Responsibilities: 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for community engagement and outreach efforts. 
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement community programs, events, and initiatives that strengthen relationships with stakeholders. 
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations, schools, non-profits, and community leaders. 
  • Represent the organization at all community events and initiatives. 
  • Communicate with and schedule all Chuck-A-Puck groups for every Rush home game (36 games). 
  • Communicate with and schedule all Hero of the Game recognitions for every Rush home game (36 games). 
 
Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 
  • 1-3 years of experience in community relations, outreach, event planning, or public relations preferred. 
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills. 
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines. 
  • A self-starter that possesses the ability to work independently and collaboratively with a team. 
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. 
  • Flexible schedule with the ability to work evenings and weekends as needed. 
  • Fulfill all donation requests the organization receives. 
  • Other duties as assigned.
