Trenton ECHL Hockey starts play at the CURE Insurance Arena in Trenton, NJ starting with the 2026-27 season. Before we start our hockey operations, the team will focus on community presence & awareness, partnership growing, and celebrating Hockey in the New Jersey/Eastern Central PA area. We are seeking highly motivated, outgoing, and dedicated candidates for our preparations to start play next year. This internship is for outgoing, hardworking individuals who gain experience understanding the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity of building a new franchise operating in a proven hockey market! 

 Position Overview:
The internship program offers hands-on experience in community relations & events, sales, marketing and merchandise.  Interns will learn various skills while working closely with managers & directors, assisting in the office, at venue and community events, and other career growing experiences.

Description of experience areas:
  •  Sales (Tickets & Corporate Partnerships)
    • Sales tasks include assisting in executing various grassroots marketing activities with the ticket sales department to drive ticket sales and brand awareness.
    • Ability to join for professional sales trainings with the sales group.
    • Corporate partnerships tasks will help understand how to prospect, pitch, and maintain sponsors and partner relationships, while gaining hands-on experience in professional sports marketing and business development.

  • Community Relations
    • Community relations tasks will help gain experience by working on a variety of community outreach programs and events. Some community relations responsibilities include organizing and taking part in community events, managing team donations and coordinating youth sports activities.

  • Marketing
    • Assists with the creation and execution of marketing campaigns for social & traditional media. Graphic design is a plus but not necessary. 
    • Capture of photo and video elements for use in marketing materials.

  • Merchandise
    • Merchandise tasks include organizing, stocking and inventorying of team store, assisting with online store order fulfillment and creation of merchandise retail initiatives.  

As an intern for Trenton ECHL Hockey, you’ll be requested to adhere to the following: 
  • Availability for no less than 20 office hours per week. 
  • Availability for in-arena or off-site community events as requested. 
 
Internship Requirements
  • Working towards a four-year college degree or graduate degree or recent graduate in Marketing, Business Administration, Sports Management, or other relevant courses
  • Housing and transportation in Trenton/Mercer & Bucks Co/NJ-PA or surrounding areas
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams)
  • Strong organizational and oral/written communication skills
  • Proven ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
  • Strong professional attitude
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time and lift up to 25lbs 

Compensation:
This is a non-paid internship. If a prospective intern is able to collect school credit hours, this will apply. Employment after the internship period is not guaranteed, but interns will be considered for available positions as they come.
