IRONHAWKS In-Season Internship Program

About the Internship
The Trenton Ironhawks are looking for driven, enthusiastic individuals to join our in-season game night internship team for the 2026-27 ECHL season. This is an exciting opportunity not only to work inside a professional hockey organization, but to help the IRONHAWKS take flight in our inaugural season. The IRONHAWKS are welcoming current college students and recent postgraduates ready to break into sports. Our internship group will be made up of people who are hungry to learn and ready to work game nights – making IRONHAWKS games.

The ideal candidate will have the following attributes:
·         Customer first mindset while at games, in the office and at events.
·         Strong communication skills
·         Self-starter who takes initiative
·         An open mind and willingness to learn.
·         Works with enthusiasm, dedication, and pride.
·         A positive attitude and professional appearance.
·         Strong ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.

Internship Areas:
Game Operations & Event Staff
  • Support the planning and execution of all home game experiences — from pregame setup and intermission activities to fan engagement and post-game breakdown. You’ll work closely with our operations staff and be in the middle of the action every home game.

Marketing & Social Media
  • Create content, assist with graphic design and video production, and help tell our team’s story across platforms. Ideal for candidates with a creative eye and a feel for sports culture.

Sales & Business Development
  • Learn the business side of pro sports — prospecting, outreach, group sales, and corporate partnerships. You’ll work alongside our sales staff and develop skills that translate anywhere in the industry. You’ll also work to welcome groups and assist our concourse tables as ambassadors for the team.

Merchandise
  • Assist with the day-to-day operations of our team store — inventory management, game night sales, visual merchandising, and fulfillment. You’ll gain practical retail and product experience in a fast-paced live sports environment and help fans find their favorite gear on the way in and out of the building.

As an intern for the Trenton Ironhawks, you’ll be requested to be available for the majority of IRONHAWKS home games (36), with flexible availability for events and office hours as needed. Qualified candidates are those currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a 2- or 4-year program in Sports Management, Business, Marketing, Communications, or a related field. Proficiency in Microsoft Office; Adobe Creative Suite or social media management tools is a plus.

Dates and Compensation:
This internship period begins September 1st, ahead of our first game on October 24th – and runs through April 30th, with an extension available pending playoff schedule. This is a non-paid internship. If a prospective intern is eligible to collect school credit hours, this will apply.

We are an equal opportunity employer and all qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, age, disability, gender identity, marital or veteran status, or any other protected class.
