Live Stream Technical Director

The Kalamazoo Wings are seeking an experienced Live Stream Technical Director to lead the setup and technical production of our live streaming broadcasts on FloSports
This position is responsible for creating a professional, engaging, and consistent streaming broadcast of Kalamazoo Wings home games. The Technical Director will set up and operate the live switching in vMix, coordinate cameras and production resources, execute graphics and sponsor elements, and make real-time production decisions throughout the game.
This is a hands-on live production role for someone who understands the pace of hockey and knows how to turn multiple production elements into a polished live stream.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the Technical Director for Kalamazoo Wings live game streams.
- Operate the production switcher (vMix) throughout the live broadcast.
- Execute sponsor elements, commercials, promotional graphics, lower thirds and other streaming-specific content according to the broadcast rundown.
- Monitor the overall quality and continuity of the live stream.
- Communicate clearly with the production team throughout the broadcast.
- Follow the streaming broadcast rundown while adapting to the live action.
- Work with the production team before each game to ensure cameras, graphics, playback, audio, and other systems are ready for air.
- Troubleshoot technical and production issues quickly during live broadcasts.
- Help maintain a consistent look, feel, and production quality across all Kalamazoo Wings streams.
- Provide feedback and ideas to continually improve the streaming product.
What We're Looking For
- Previous experience in streaming content
- Ability to confidently operate a professional production switcher.
- Understanding of live sports timing, camera selection and storytelling.
- Ability to execute sponsor and promotional elements accurately and on time.
- Excellent communication and ability to work effectively with a live production crew.
- Ability to remain calm and make quick decisions in a live environment.
- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing a professional broadcast.
- Availability for Kalamazoo Wings home games, including nights and weekends.
Preferred Experience
Experience with:
- vMix
- Live streaming platforms
- Sports broadcasting
- Commercial and sponsor playback
- Multi-camera live production
Location: Kalamazoo, Michigan
Schedule:
All Kalamazoo Wings home games throughout the season. On-site at the Wings Event Center a couple of days per week on non-game days, as needed. Schedule will vary based on the home game schedule, production needs, and upcoming projects. Evenings, weekends, and some holidays will be required due to the nature of the sports schedule. Flexibility is important, especially around game days and quick-turnaround content deadlines
