Facility Operations/Event Staff: Game Day/Event Staff
This position is based at the Idaho Central Arena in the heart of downtown Boise, Idaho. Hosting 100+sporting and entertainment events a year, including 36 home games for our primary ECHL tenant team the Idaho Steelheads. Our arena’s events and the surrounding restaurants, nightlife, and shopping are sure to provide a true Idaho experience. The Production Manager is responsible for the supervision and coordination of the production and technical requirements for all Idaho Central Arena events including some events in the Grove Hotel, Sports Zone, and other locations as assigned. Provides event production expertise and oversight to users of the facility. The position trains and supervises part-time temporary staff and stagehands (Event Workers) and other part-time technical assistants. Additionally, the Production Manager is responsible for equipment setups and tear downs, scaled drawings, coordinating equipment distribution, labor and equipment billing and monitoring the backstage area and entire production of the event.

  • Hire, train and supervise production personnel.  
  • Ensure that all employees are trained and knowledgeable of safety guidelines and policies/procedures prior to joining the work force. 
  • Maintain a monthly budget and manage labor and expenses to function within the established budget.  
  • Maintain scoring systems and electronic display units. Video Boards, outdoor marque and ribbon board displays. 
  • Ensure game day production equipment is functioning and in working order. 
  • Provide staffing and/or training to game day production. 
  • Produce video as needed for game presentations. 
  • Produce light show as needed for game presentations. 
  • Provide game presentation production oversight, assistance and leadership to the arenas sports tenants. 
  • Provide production oversight, assistance and leadership to all events hosted in the arena. Maintain regular and positive communication with the show production managers.  
  • Maintain regular communication with the Event Manager regarding details and recent communication related to the event.  
  • Confirm all technical specifications, as noted in the event riders are met.  Working with the Event Manager, ensure the arena is “dressed” and set according to client requirements.  
  • Ensure all drapes are clean and in place prior to doors.  
  • Coordinates with outside vendors to ensure events are properly staffed.  
  • Record the loop tape and ensure it is audible for each event.
  • Oversee ongoing maintenance and repair of all production equipment to include video boards, sound equipment and lights. 
  • Oversee ALL rigging performed in the arena. 
  • Maintain the arena rigging equipment and safety devices. 
  • Maintain a safe rigging environment. 
  •  Routinely check all technical equipment to ensure it is in working order. 
  • Working with the Facilities Maintenance Dept. ensure needed electrical service is available for all events. 

  • Must have excellent customer service skills with a willing and pleasant attitude. 
  • Must have strong communication skills in the English language with attention to detail. Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in production related field  
  • Experience in the repair and maintenance of related lighting/sound equipment 
  • Familiarity with OSHA requirements 
  • Associates’ Degree preferred; Bachelor’s Degree is highly preferred. 
  • Must be able to take direction, prioritize assignments, and give tasks to employees. 
  • Must be able to work irregular hours; mainly evenings, weeknights, weekends and holidays.  Proficient computer skills including knowledge of windows-based computers and the internet.  Ability to work independently, but still as a part of the overall team atmosphere helping promoters, tenants, clients, co-workers and managers as required. 
  • Ability to work under pressure in a live event environment. 
  • Must have a valid Driver’s License
