Reports to: Head Coach
Position Classification: Full-Time, Seasonal (Late Summer – End of Hockey Season)
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Daily practice setup (towels, jerseys, socks, laundry bags, sports drinks, water, etc.)
- Pre-practice skate sharpening, equipment repairs, equipment modifications, and sewing
- Pre-practice bench setup: water bottles, coaches' board, tape, sticks, tires, etc.
- Post-practice skate sharpening, equipment repairs (including sewing), equipment modifications, equipment replacement, equipment cleaning, and laundry
- Perform general housekeeping duties for the following areas: dressing room, training room, coach's office, bathrooms, showers, and hallways
- Communicate with opposing trainers and equipment personnel regarding building availability, arrival times, practice ice schedules, and other logistical details
- Game-day setup of the home team dressing room, visitors' dressing room, and referees' room in accordance with league rules
- Conduct in-season and postseason inventory of all hockey equipment and supplies
- Assist with all aspects of team travel, serving as the primary point of contact during travel
- Develop contacts throughout the league to become familiar with arena regulations and setup, while building relationships with equipment manufacturer representatives and vendors
- Develop a working budget for the following season based on end-of-season inventory
- Manage the process of soliciting bids, preparing purchase orders, and following up on bids and orders throughout the summer
- Maintain effective and accurate records
- Perform other duties as assigned
Abilities and Skills:
- Ability to sharpen skates
- Ability to perform skate repairs (blade replacement, riveting, eyelet replacement, punching, and oven fitting)
- Ability to sew
- Ability to make effective hockey equipment modifications
- Ability to maintain accurate records, including the hockey operations budget, with an emphasis on cost-saving measures
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with management, league officials, facility representatives, the media, fellow employees, and the general public
- Proficient in Microsoft Office or similar software
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required
- Bachelor's degree, or progress toward completion of a bachelor's degree, preferred but not required
Additional Information:
- Reliable vehicle with a valid driver's license and proof of insurance
Compensation:
- $50,000 per year, plus benefits
