JOB SUMMARY: The Social Media Manager is responsible for managing the club’s social media platforms.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manage all of the Dallas Stars social media platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, X, Instagram, Threads, YouTube, and TikTok
- Create and implement a variety of social media campaigns and contests to engage with fans and increase brand awareness
- Adhere to all company parameters as outlined in the Dallas Stars Social Media Guidelines
- Ideate and execute creative content to be posted on Stars social platforms
- Perform ongoing social listening and act as community manager across social channels
- Stay on the cutting edge of technologies associated with social media landscape—act the leader not the follower
- Be aware of what is trending in social media and in culture to ensure relevant and timely content
- Long term social planning: Create yearlong content strategy and content calendar to guide social campaigns across brand, sponsorship, and sales
- Manage games and prize distribution hosted on social
- Monitor and compile social media metrics in partnership with the Dallas Stars Business Strategy and analytics team as appropriate
- Live cover games both home and away, update all social platforms as game progresses, engage with fans, run in-game contests
- Travels with the team to most away games to capture content
- Maintain an excellent working relationship with NHL social media producers, ensuring the club is taking advantage of all opportunities available, while keeping the league informed of the club’s needs and priorities
- Ongoing, timely updates on social channels, ensuring they meet the objectives established by the organization
- Work with Production and Graphic Design teams to create content and art needed for profile pics, headers, and postings for social platforms
- Assist with social media efforts for Children’s Health StarCenters and Comerica Center
- Be available at a moment’s notice when news breaks and it must be reported on social media
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Digital Marketing, or a related field
- At least 3 years of experience running social media channels for an organization
- Experience professional or collegiate sports leagues preferred (similar event-related business experience will be considered)
- Willing to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends, in a non-traditional, fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop a plus
- Detail oriented, particularly under deadlines
- Fosters and works within a team environment
- Hockey knowledge preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an office environment, with noise levels usually moderate.
