Job Summary: The Dallas Stars Promotions Apprentice/Intern will serve as an assistant to the Promotions department. The Promotions Apprentice/Intern will exemplify the high standards of the Dallas Stars organization, in regard to professionalism, dedication, and execution. The Promotions Apprentice/Intern is engaging, motivated, reliable, knowledgeable, and willing to go above and beyond to create a memorable and positive experience for fans of all ages. The Promotions Apprentice/Intern will assist in helping to build the Dallas Stars fan base through the promotion of game experiences, community events, youth and adult hockey/skating programs, and community outreach.
Essential Functions/Responsibilities:
- Available to work flexible, non-traditional hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays, for home games, away games, and various events in the community.
- Serve a leadership role for the Street Squad and Hype Team when tasked to do so.
- Assist in setting up, and executing Party on the Plaza, special events, and other promotional activations.
- Assist in the organization and execution of away game watch parties and other away game events.
- Assist in arena game day set up (i.e. – arena signage, concourse tables, door handouts, intermission game props, etc.).
- Learn to operate and maintain all Dallas Stars promotional vehicles.
- Learn to operate and maintain all Dallas Stars mobile marketing units (i.e. inflatables, audio visual equipment, promotional games, etc.).
- Assist in keeping track of promotional giveaway inventory (i.e. – wristbands, foam pucks, lanyards, etc.).
- Supervise, motivate, support, and train Street Squad and Hype Team staff when tasked to do so.
- Assist in clerical, organizational, and practical needs 1-3 days a week at the Dallas Stars Executive Offices in Frisco.
Required Education and Experience:
- High School diploma.
- 1-3 years of experience on the Street Squad, Hype Team, or other similar marketing/promotional entity.
- Ability to multi-task, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and work under tight deadlines a must.
- Ability to effectively communicate with other departments and vendors.
- Excellent inter-personal communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to carry a minimum of 40lbs (position requires physical labor).
- Possess a strong understanding of the game of hockey, and an in-depth knowledge of Dallas Stars history and current events.
Physical Demands and Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25/40/50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an arena environment, with noise levels usually quite loud. The employee is exposed to an office environment, with noise levels usually moderate.
