Job Summary: The Licensed Massage Therapist supports the health, safety, injury prevention, treatment, and recovery of professional hockey players. Working closely with the Head Athletic Trainer and team physicians and medical staff, this role helps deliver high quality athlete care while assisting with daily medical operations, travel preparation, and player health management. 
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist in maintaining player health, wellness, injury prevention, and recovery programs, including long-term and post-surgical recover plans
  • Primarily soft tissue treatment and recover services to support player performance and rehabilitation
  • Communicate player health updates and concerns to Head Athletic Trainer
  • Collaborate with team physicians, athletic trainers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Maintain accurate player medical records with the Athlete Health Management System
  • Coordinate medical supplies, equipment, and training room operations for practices, games, and team travel
  • Assist with clinical evaluations, scheduling of healthcare providers, and daily medical operations
  • Attend training camps, development camps, home and away games as required
  • Support management and perform additional duties as assigned while adhering to professional and medical standards
 
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in Texas as a LMT
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with professional athletes
  • Advanced manual therapy skills and advanced soft tissue management certification (ART, Fascial Manipulations, Neurofunctional, Instrument-Assisted Fascial Manipulation, or equivalent)
  • Current Basic Life Support, CPR, and AED certifications
  • Knowledge of standards of care for professional athletes, professional hockey experience preferred
  • Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills
  • Prefer a Certified Athletic Trainer (BOC) in good standing
 
Physical Demands and Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an arena environment, with noise levels that can get quite loud.
