JOB SUMMARY: The General Manager (GM) oversees all operations at the recreational ice and multisport facility. This person is responsible for revenue growth and managing expenses effectively. They serve as the public face of the facility and are responsible for engaging with local government officials, the Chamber of Commerce, and other community groups to ensure the company establishes and maintains a positive presence within the community. This position is not eligible for remote work.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Identify new business opportunities and drive revenue for the facility
- Build facility management teams to develop and execute innovative programs.
- Oversee budgets, monthly reports, and accounts receivable
- Lead facility managers on proformas, P&L, audience targeting, and program execution
- Set and update goals for revenue, program enrollment, and conversion rates
- Manage daily facility procedures including enrollment, service, scheduling, expenses, etc.
- Review operational goals with the staff weekly
- Collaborate on StarCenter/Multisport program initiatives
- Ensure all facility programs align with the company standards and support overall business objectives
- Build partnerships with local government officials and organizations to create mutually beneficial programs
- Develop and manage recurring annual community events
- Assist the SVP on litigation and insurance claims
- Coordinate with StarCenter management on contracts
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or G.E.D. is required; college degree preferred
- Must have previous experience working in youth sports and/or facility administration, preferably in a recreational ice rink or indoor multisport facility
- Proven history of learning, training, and developing successful programs
- Proven organizational and time-management skills with excellent attention to detail
- Excellent customer service skills
- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with customers
- Must be able to effectively manage up and down the organizational chart
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays and special events a
- Ability to work independently and as a team player
- Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an office and rink environment, with noise levels usually moderate to quite loud.
