Job Summary: This person will be responsible for directing the operations of their designated facility. The General Manager (“GM”) is responsible for the financial success of each facility by driving revenues and managing expenses of a year-round, twin-sheet ice facility. The GM must work closely with and be responsible for the facility’s management staff and have the ability to step in and manage each area, should the need arise. The GM will be required to invest the time necessary to ensure all aspects of the facility run efficiently and smoothly. This position is not eligible for remote work
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the facility including ice scheduling, staff scheduling/meetings, cash handling, daily closeout procedures, and accounts receivables
- Oversee, maintain, and implement unilateral policies and procedures to promote conformity amongst all facilities
- Cultivate and nurture relationships with the community and local organizations
- Drive new business and revenue growth by empowering management teams to develop programs while maximizing ice utilization
- Active participation in all ice sports programming decisions with an emphasis on retention within the facility and collaborating with colleagues to develop best practices for all facilities
- Responsible for community public relations and patron satisfaction
- Monitor building security, custodial maintenance, emergency supplies and equipment to ensure a clean, safe facility for customers and staff
- Review and approve monthly profit & loss, forecast revenue and expenses, draft fiscal budgets to be reviewed and approved by leadership
- Negotiate and manage all facility related contracts following StarCenter policies and procedures
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Liaise with supervisor and General Counsel on relevant legal matters
- Oversee all marketing initiatives within the StarCenter facility including digital marketing efforts in collaboration with the StarCenter marketing team
- Work with Corporate Partnership department on sponsorship fulfillment
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
- College degree is required or equivalent work experience
- Intimate knowledge of the sport of ice hockey or figure skating as an athlete or coach is recommended
- Proven history of training and developing successful programs
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Willingness to learn new programs and try new initiatives
- Excellent attention to detail
- Must be able to deal with multiple tasks simultaneously
- Proven organizational and time-management skills

- Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with customers

- Must have a good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint and Outlook
Physical Demands and Working Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an office environment, with noise levels usually moderate.
