Job Summary: The Communications Assistant will help with the day-to-day operations of the Communications Department. This is a part time, seasonal position that will work in the Stars Executive Offices and at all Dallas Stars home games at American Airlines Center.  The term of the position ends approximately two weeks after the end of the 2026-27 season.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Assist with tasks related to Stars home game days, including credentialing, press box setup, distributing gameday materials, line charts, media hospitality efforts and postgame notes and quotes
  • Research, update, and formulate statistical information for team media materials, including game notes, game previews and game day information
  • Edit and contribute to the season yearbook, media guide and postseason guide
  • Compile and archive daily news clips
  • Assist with organizing and archiving the team’s photography library
  • Assist with media relations efforts on Stars practice days, home game days at American Airlines Center and other team events
  • Assist with the creation, implementation, and execution of team messaging strategies for all facets of the Stars organization including players, hockey operations, executive team, business and marketing initiatives, the Dallas Stars Foundation, Alumni Association, Children’s Health StarCenters, StarCenter Multisport facilities, and Comerica Center
  • Special projects as assigned by the Communications Department, hockey operations and/or the executive leadership team

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
  • Knowledge of hockey, particularly the NHL and the Dallas Stars
  • Prior experience working for a collegiate or professional sports team
  • Excellent written skills and ability to serve as an expert copy editor
  • Ability to build strong working relationships across the entire organization and motivated self-starter
  • Ability to work well in a team environment and produce the highest level of work under tight deadlines
  • Proactive in helping look to improve departmental procedures and tasks to better serve the organization and media constituents
  • An expert problem solver with a positive attitude to adapt to daily challenges
  • The ability to maintain the highest level of professionalism
  • The ability and desire to work long hours, weekends and holidays
  • Strong computer skills – including all Microsoft Office software programs, Adobe InDesign and Zoom
Physical Demands and Working Environment
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, use hands and fingers, handle objects and office tools, reach, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, and hear. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25/40/50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is exposed to an arena environment, with noise levels usually quite loud. The employee is exposed to an office environment, with noise levels usually moderate.
