Hours: 9:00 am - 5:00 pm / Monday - Friday
Status: Full-time Exempt

Compensation: The annual budgeted salary range for this position is $75,000 to $85,000

Summary:

As a Data Engineer with the Chicago Blackhawks, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and implementing the next generation of data systems supporting our sales, marketing, and operational teams. Through cutting-edge pipelines, automation, and privacy-compliant processes, you'll enable decision-making that drives the team's business objectives and enriches the fan experience. The right candidate will be excited by the opportunity to create and improve systems and processes that drive the next generation of Blackhawks data products and initiatives.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. CRM Development:
    • Build and optimize Salesforce CRM solutions to empower sales and marketing teams with actionable data and seamless integrations across platforms.
    • Ensure infrastructure aligns with organization-wide scalability goals.
  2. Data Pipeline Management:
    • Design, build, and maintain ELT pipelines from diverse data sources into the data warehouse and to other tools.
    • Optimize data extraction, loading, and transformation processes for performance and scalability.
  3. Operational Improvements:
    • Identify automation opportunities to enhance data processing and onboarding efficiency.
    • Deliver short-term user wins while building infrastructure for long-term success.
    • Consistently build documentation to ensure efficient communication across the team.
    • Identify opportunities for refactoring code to simplify codebase, reduce costs, or improve processing.
  4. Security
    • Develop secure, privacy-compliant solutions for all data processing and storage operations.
    • Ensure compliance with relevant policies and regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) for handling sensitive user data.
    • Implement security best practices such as encryption, access control, and monitoring.
  5. Team Collaboration:
    • Partner with departments (revenue, marketing, IT) to understand needs, define roadmaps, and develop solutions.
    • Foster collaboration using Agile methodologies and shared project management tools (e.g. Clickup, Github, AzureML).

 Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field
  • 1+ Years of data engineering, infrastructure, architecture, or development experience
  • Technical Skills:
    1. Experience with Python and SQL
    2. Experience with Salesforce or other CRM platforms and their ecosystems a plus
    3. Experience with Snowflake, Fivetran, DBT, Prefect, Salesforce, Git, and Tableau a plus
    4. Experience developing and utilizing cloud-based architecture to solve complex needs
    5. Experience developing data systems including APIs, data pipelines, OLTP to OLAP transformations, and data streaming
  • Soft Skills:
    1. Self-starter able to identify challenges, chart solutions, and execute improvements
    2. Ability to understand business requirements and develop technical solutions to support departmental needs
    3. Ability to manage priorities and coordinate tasks to solve day-to-day challenges in a dynamic environment
    4. Strong communication skills with ability to demonstrate clear, concise articulation of scenarios, options, risks, mitigations, and recommendations
  • Ability to adapt to occasional variations in schedule including working nights, weekends, and holidays as business needs dictate based on the event calendar.
