Role Summary:

The Coordinator, Photography & Content will be responsible for capturing and delivering high-quality still photography that brings the excitement and essence of the Chicago Blackhawks to life — while also contributing to the broader content needs of a fast-moving social and creative team. Photography is the foundation of this role, but the ideal candidate brings range: someone who can pivot from shooting a game to supporting a video shoot, contributing to a social campaign, or pitching ideas in a content meeting. You will work independently and collaboratively across the social, content, and creative team — shooting, editing, and delivering work in real time while meeting tight deadlines and upholding brand standards. Your work will directly connect fans to the team through compelling visual storytelling across all Blackhawks channels.

The ideal candidate for this position is a versatile and skilled visual storyteller with a photography-first mindset and the range to produce across formats. You're equally comfortable behind a camera capturing a game-winning goal as you are contributing to broader content initiatives — and your eye for what resonates on social platforms makes everything you produce feel native and compelling.

How You'll Contribute:

Content Capture & Production

  • Capture, edit, and deliver high-quality still photography in real time for Chicago Blackhawks social channels, website, and internal usage

  • Operate various camera systems while maintaining accurate equipment storage and upkeep

  • Apply strong post-production skills using Adobe Creative Cloud (Lightroom, Photoshop) to produce polished, on-brand imagery

  • Compress and export content in multiple formats optimized for web, social platforms, and internal distribution

  • Contribute to short-form video and motion content as needed, including behind-the-scenes coverage, player features, and social-first formats — photography is the core of this role, but versatility across content types is required

  • Apply understanding of hockey and what matters in the course of a game to capture the most relevant and impactful moments

Digital Asset & Social Support

  • Collaborate with the Coordinator of Digital Media Assets in photo asset management, including curation and maintenance of PhotoShelter

  • Support the social media team with content posting when needed

  • Create content to support fan outreach, business objectives, and other Blackhawks initiatives

  • Be an active member of the social media team — pitch ideas, remain current with social media industry trends, and generate creative and compelling content

Team Collaboration

  • Work both independently and collaboratively with the social, content, and creative team

  • Build positive relationships with players, staff, and external partners

  • Exhibit positive interpersonal skills and comfort initiating conversations

  • Contribute creative ideas for innovative content that elevates the Chicago Blackhawks brand

  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and professionalism at all times

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in photography and visual content creation, with a strong preference for candidates who have worked across multiple formats (video, social content, digital media).

  • Bachelors degree in Photography, Visual Media, Marketing, or related field required.

  • Willing and able to work nights, weekends, and travel extensively as required — this role attends all 82 regular season games (41 home, 41 away) plus playoffs if applicable, travels with the team for road game coverage throughout the season, and represents the organization at marquee NHL events including the NHL Draft, NHL Awards, All-Star Weekend, and other league-wide tentpole moments.

  • Strong photography skills with demonstrated experience capturing live events, people, and real environments — sports experience strongly preferred

  • Expert proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Lightroom, Photoshop)

  • Working knowledge of graphic design principles, including layout, typography, and brand consistency

  • Familiarity with social media platforms, trends, and content formats

  • Must demonstrate our organizational values of integrity, curiosity, empathy, collaboration, and originality
