The Coordinator, Accounts Payable for the Chicago Blackhawks is a critical role in supporting the day-to-day operations of a dynamic, high-energy sports organization. The Coordinator, Accounts Payable will play a key role in ensuring timely and accurate vendor payments, maintaining strong internal controls, and contributing to continuous enhancement of our accounts payable operations.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsibilities include executing day-to-day accounts payable tasks for the Chicago Blackhawks, Chicago Blackhawks Foundation, Fifth Third Arena, Rockford IceHogs and Chicago Steel.
  • Process vendor invoices accurately and timely ensuring proper coding, approvals, and compliance with company policies. 
  • Maintain vendor records, including setup, W-9 collection and payment terms.
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Monitor accounts payable inbox and respond to inquiries from vendors and internal departments.
  • Assist with month-end close activities, including AP accruals and account reconciliations.
  • Review employee expense reports and process for reimbursement.
  • Assist with the expense allocation of the corporate credit cards.
  • Support process improvements and automation initiatives within the AP function.
  • Collaborate with procurement, accounting, finance and other departments as needed.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Associate’s or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of accounts payable experience, ideally within a professional sports team, entertainment or event-driven organization.
  • Strong understanding of AP processes and internal controls.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems (e.g. NetSuite).
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as may be dictated by game and event schedule.
  • Strong interpersonal and proactive communication skills.
  • Experience in working in a high-volume environment is a plus.
