The Carolina Hurricanes and Lenovo Center are seeking a skilled and driven Sous Chef to support kitchen operations at a high-volume sports and entertainment venue. This role is critical to delivering consistent, high-quality food experiences across concessions, premium hospitality, and large-scale events.

Working closely with the Chef de Cuisine, the Sous Chef will lead day-to-day kitchen executions, ensuring food quality, operational efficiency, and team performance. This is a hands-on leadership role ideal for a culinary professional who thrives in a fast-paced, high-energy environment and is passionate about both food excellence and operational discipline.

What You’ll Do

Drive Food Quality & Execution
  • Execute menu items to ensure consistency in quality, taste, presentation, and temperature across all service areas 
  • Maintain high culinary standards and monitor production to ensure speed, accuracy, and adherence to recipes 
  • Partner with the Chef de Cuisine on menu development, balancing quality, efficiency, and cost 
Lead Kitchen Operations
  • Oversee daily kitchen operations including prep, production, service, and breakdown 
  • Maintain clean, organized, and fully stocked kitchen and storage areas 
  • Manage inventory, product rotation, and waste to support freshness and cost control 
Team Leadership & Development
  • Supervise, train, and develop kitchen staff, fostering accountability and teamwork 
  • Support hiring and onboarding while providing hands-on leadership during service 
  • Ensure team adherence to food safety, equipment use, and operational standards 
Safety, Sanitation & Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations 
  • Promote a safe and clean working environment through proper food handling and safety practices 
Operational & Administrative Support
  • Assist with scheduling, labor management, and payroll accuracy 
  • Support process improvements and complete operational tasks within established timelines 
 
What We’re Looking For
  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional experience 
  • 4–6 years of experience in high-volume culinary environments such as sports venues, convention centers, hotels, or large-scale catering operations 
  • Strong understanding of kitchen operations, food safety, and high-volume production 
  • Experience with concessions, commissary, or multi-outlet food service operations preferred 
  • Proven ability to maintain food quality and consistency in fast-paced environments 
  • Hands-on leadership style with strong coaching and team development skills 
  • Working knowledge of inventory management, food cost control, and kitchen systems 
  • Strong communication and organizational skills 
  • Proficiency with basic administrative tools (e.g., scheduling, inventory systems, Microsoft Office) 
  • Ability to work extended hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays based on event schedules 
  • Must pass a criminal background check
