The Retail Event Manager is responsible for leading all retail operations during Carolina Hurricanes events, ensuring an exceptional fan shopping experience while maximizing sales, maintaining operational excellence, and developing a high-performing team. This position oversees game day staffing, store execution, and operational readiness for all events. The ideal candidate is an organized, energetic leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about delivering outstanding customer service.

Essential Responsibilities
Event Operations
  • Lead all retail operations during home games, arena events, and community events across multiple retail locations. 
  • Plan and execute off-site retail opportunities for the Carolina Hurricanes
  • Ensure all locations are fully staffed, merchandised, stocked, and operational prior to event beginning. 
  • Monitor sales performance throughout events and adjust staffing, product placement, and replenishment strategies as needed. 
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for event retail issues, resolving operational and customer concerns quickly and professionally. 
Team Leadership
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, train, and develop a team of part-time retail associates and supervisors. 
  • Create and communicate game day staffing schedules while maintaining appropriate coverage for all events. 
  • Coach employees on customer service, sales techniques, and operational procedures. 
  • Provide ongoing performance feedback and conduct performance evaluations. 
Merchandising & Inventory
  • Oversee product replenishment throughout events to maximize sales opportunities. 
  • Assist with inventory management, transfers, and stock organization. 
  • Coordinate product movement between storage areas and retail locations. 
  • Monitor inventory levels and communicate replenishment needs to the buying and inventory teams. 
Operations & Administration
  • Prepare retail locations for special events, theme nights, playoffs, and other arena events. 
  • Analyze sales trends and provide recommendations to improve operational efficiency and revenue. 
  • Maintain accurate documentation for staffing, inventory discrepancies, and operational reports. 
  • Assist with implementing new retail initiatives, technology, and operational processes. 
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and loss prevention procedures. 
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Retail Management, Sport Management, or related field preferred. 
  • 3+ years of retail management experience, preferably in sports, entertainment, hospitality, or high-volume retail. 
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing large hourly teams. 
  • Strong organizational and time management skills. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities. 
  • Ability to make decisions quickly in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Experience with POS system; Teamwork preferred but not required.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office. 
  • Must be able to work 90% of Carolina Hurricanes events, including evenings, weekends, holidays, for home games and special events. Must be flexible for a varying schedule week to week. 
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods. Must be able to walk for extended periods and use stairs as needed. 
  • Must pass a criminal background check
 Preferred Skills
  • Experience managing retail operations in a stadium, arena, or entertainment venue. 
  • Experience with visual merchandising. 
  • Knowledge of inventory control and loss prevention best practices. 
  • Passion for sports and delivering exceptional fan experiences.
