Part-time Canes Crew
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Canes Crew will focus on assisting and executing in-game promotional activities and entertainment with an emphasis on personal touchpoints with fans.
- Represent the Hurricanes at games, events and appearances as brand ambassadors throughout Raleigh and surrounding areas to the standard set by the Canes organization and management.
- Duties include, but are not limited to, working closely with the stage managers, escorting of Olympia riders from their seats, selecting contestants, set up and tear down of arena signage, photobooths and props, execution of on-ice games, flag waving and sign holding, rolling and tossing t-shirts, staffing concourse activations and fan engagement and interaction as a brand ambassador.
- Canes Crew members must possess the personality to strike up and carry-on conversations with fans of all ages including children, opposing team fans and high-end clientele, making those they interact with feel special and appreciated.
- This group of individuals will also support the Hurricanes in the following areas: youth hockey, community outreach, community relations, marketing and corporate partnership services’ year-round initiatives and events.
- Comfort with heights and ability to ice skate not required but encouraged. Must provide own hockey skates and prove skating ability through an on-ice test.
- Ability to work alongside the team mascot and step in to assist when necessary.
- Knowledge of the game of hockey, the NHL and the Carolina Hurricanes preferred.
- Willingness to take direction from several supervisors and adhere to all company and program policies and procedures.
- Ability to work nights, weekends and holidays and arrive at least two hours prior to the start of each game and work through the completion of the game.
- Must be able to work 90% of Hurricanes home games for the 2026-27 season and mandatory team appearances as needed.
- Comfortable working in front of large crowds.
- Must be personable, enthusiastic and very outgoing.
- Must be able to think creatively, react responsibly and contribute positively to a team environment.
- Working off-site appearances on behalf of the Carolina Hurricanes, as assigned.
- Ability to interact professionally with Lenovo Center and Hurricanes staff and high-level executives is a must.
- Degree in sports management, entertainment, event management, hospitality or related fields preferred.
- Interest in sports special events, marketing, promotions or entertainment.
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must reside in North Carolina (75 mile radius from Lenovo Center) for the 2026-2027 season
- Must pass criminal background check
o Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time.
o Ability to climb stairs.
o Ability to walk across ice surfaces.
o Ability to work in cold indoor and hot outdoor climates.
o Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds to different locations.

I acknowledgement that I must be present at an in-person invite only audition on Monday, August 3rd at Close-King Indoor Practice Facility (4550 Trinity Rd, Raleigh, NC 27607) from 5-10 PM to be eligible for this position.
Skating experience is not required to audition for the team. However, if a Canes Crew member is to help with on-ice games in their own hockey skates, then a strong skating ability will need to be demonstrated prior to the start of the season. What is your skating experience, how many years?
