The Director of Standards & Compliance is responsible for establishing, leading, and continuously improving newly created department focused on quality, consistency, accuracy, cleanliness, and operational discipline across all Food & Beverage operations.
The Director will play a critical role in designing and implementing the systems, processes, tools, and reporting structures that define how Standards & Compliance operates. This includes developing inspection protocols, documentation standards, audit processes, and performance reporting frameworks that drive accountability across the organization.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Department Development & System Design
- Build and establish the Standards & Compliance department from the ground up
- Develop and implement the department’s operating model, including inspection and audit procedures, event day observation protocols, documentation and reporting standards and escalation and follow-up processes
- Create and maintain standardized tools, including checklists, scorecards, and reporting templates
- Define clear standards in partnership with Culinary, Operations, and Supply Chain leadership
- Continuously refine processes to improve effectiveness and efficiency
Standards Oversight & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to established standards across all F&B operations, including:
- Food quality, preparation, and presentation
- Cleanliness and sanitation
- Menu accuracy and pricing
- Operational readiness and execution
- Brand and guest experience expectations
- Conduct routine and targeted inspections across kitchens, concessions, premium spaces, and storage areas
- Verify compliance with internal standards as well as all applicable health and safety regulations
- Identify gaps between expected and actual performance
Event-Day Observation & Quality Assurance
- Lead Standards & Compliance coverage during events, ensuring appropriate deployment across all areas of operation
- Oversee real-time observation of food quality, service execution, and operational discipline
- Ensure consistent, objective documentation of issues without interfering with live operations
- Identify trends and recurring issues during live service
Reporting, Analysis & Accountability
- Develop and deliver clear, concise event reports highlighting key issues and failures, repeat or trending problems and areas of improvement or regression
- Assign ownership of issues to appropriate departments (Operations, Culinary, Supply Chain, Finance)
- Track corrective actions and ensure follow-through
- Escalate persistent or high-impact issues to senior leadership
- Provide ongoing analysis to support data-driven decision-making
Team Leadership & Development
- Hire, train, and manage a Standards & Compliance team, including a manager and event-based staff
- Establish clear expectations for observation, documentation, and professionalism
- Ensure consistency in how inspections and audits are conducted
- Foster a culture of accountability, objectivity, and continuous improvement
Minimum Qualifications
- 7+ years of leadership experience in food & beverage, hospitality, or large-scale venue operations
- Strong understanding of culinary operations, concessions, and premium service environments
- Experience with quality assurance, auditing, or operational standards preferred
- Demonstrated ability to build and implement systems and processes from scratch
- Strong analytical and reporting skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to operate independently and make objective, fact-based assessments
- High level of integrity and objectivity
- Detail-oriented with strong observational skills
- Comfortable addressing difficult issues and holding others accountable
- Consistent and fair in approach—no favoritism or subjectivity
- Calm, professional presence in high-pressure environments
- Strong sense of ownership and accountability
- Ability to build credibility across multiple departments
- Ability to work long, irregular hours including nights, weekends and holidays as event schedule dictates
- Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time and use stairs as needed
- Must pass a background check
