The Director of Arena Marketing at Lenovo Center leads and executes strategic marketing plans that strengthen the venue brand, drive ticket sales, grow and engage audiences, and support overall business growth for the venue and its events. 
 
This position executes integrated marketing campaigns, collaborating with event promoters to support concerts, comedy shows, family events, and more. This role also partners with tenant teams, including the Carolina Hurricanes and NC State Men’s Basketball, as well as internal departments to support their marketing objectives and identify cross-promotional opportunities.
 
The Director of Arena Marketing provides strategic direction and leadership to the marketing team, overseeing the Graphic Design & Marketing Coordinator and Marketing Specialist. As a member of the Arena Programming and Marketing department, this position works closely with the Director of Booking and other members of the team to support the venue’s programming, marketing, and business objectives.  
Responsibilities include but are not limited to: 
  • Lead the venue marketing team and oversee the overall strategy, setting clear goals, priorities, and expectations to drive successful marketing campaigns for concerts, comedy shows, family events, and other venue programming and initiatives. 
  • Oversee brand standards for venue naming rights, ensuring consistent and compliant use of brand assets. 
  • Shape the venue’s brand positioning, messaging, creative direction, and visual identity to strengthen the venue brand.  
  • Lead and collaborate with event promoters on the development and execution of integrated marketing campaigns across digital and traditional channels, including social media, email, website, advertising, public relations, partnerships, venue activations, and other relevant channels. 
  • Cultivate and manage media partner relationships; negotiate paid campaigns and value-added opportunities to maximize campaign performance and ROI.  
  • Oversee campaign execution and reconciliation, monitor performance metrics, and use data to evaluate and optimize campaign results. 
  • Facilitate cross-department collaboration to provide support for internal events and ongoing initiatives, including campaigns for hiring events, food & beverage offerings, guest experience communications, and more. 
  • Manage public relations and communications, including messaging and materials, in coordination with the appropriate internal and external teams. 
  • Manage media relations, including writing press releases and media pitches, coordinating interview requests, maintaining the media contact database, and monitoring media coverage and recaps. 
  • Oversee the venue’s content strategy, providing guidance and support for content planning and calendar management across digital and social channels. 
  • Lead management and optimization of LenovoCenter.com, partnering with the web developer on site design, functionality, maintenance, and enhancements. 
  • Lead email marketing strategy and campaign management, partnering with CRM & Business Analytics to drive database health, growth, engagement, and best practices.  
  • Leverage market and customer insights, industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices to strengthen marketing strategy. 
  • Oversee the execution of in-venue marketing assets for all events, including digital signage, LED ribbons, on-ice projection, broadcast integrations, ticket giveaways, posters, and other promotional elements. 
  • Lead and manage a grassroots marketing strategy, identifying opportunities with third-party partners, college campuses and alumni, local artists, lifestyle creators, and influencers. 
  • Manage partnerships and cross-promotional opportunities with sponsors, media outlets, community organizations, and local businesses. 
  • Oversee event-day marketing and media activities, including local media presence, social content, fan activations, artist gifts, and back-of-house activations.  
  • Coordinate building photography for events, historical documentation, and promotional use.  
 
Qualifications:
  •  Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive marketing experience, preferably within the live entertainment or sports industries, with experience in an arena, stadium, or a professional sports franchise preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of the live entertainment and music industry is preferred, with an understanding of event marketing, audience engagement, and industry trends.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing paid advertising campaigns across digital and traditional media channels. 
  • Experience with email marketing, social media marketing, CRM, and the use of marketing automation platforms. 
  • Experience with sponsorship activation and partnership marketing. 
  • Knowledge of local/regional media and community engagement. 
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. 
  • Strong leadership, strategic thinking, and analytical skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Adobe Creative Suite experience preferred.
  • Must demonstrate discretion and the ability to handle confidential information appropriately. 
  • Ability to work nights, weekends, holidays, and full event days as required.  
  • Must pass a criminal background check
