POSITION SUMMARY

Western New York Arena (WNYA) is the management company for the facilities that host the following teams: Buffalo Sabres, and Buffalo Bandits as well as numerous musical, theatrical and family entertainment events. As a member of the Security Department, the Security Manager helps provide a safe and enjoyable environment for guests, employees and vendors at all times. The Security Manager is also responsible for enforcing arena policy and procedures while delivering a high level of customer service. This position reports to the Director of Security and will have supervisory responsibilities to the building and event staff.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Ensure weekly staffing & scheduling of event security staff is complete;
  • Maintain department database and employee files on security officer staff;
  • Maintain and manage uniform inventory;
  • Assist with payroll and timekeeping procedures;
  • Distribute and maintain ID badge database;
  • Manage and oversee events and staff to include position assignments, pre-event safety inspections, briefings, incident response, respond to and resolve guest incidents/concerns, and liaise with concert tour security staff and other security partners;
  • Assist with security staff performance evaluations and prepare disciplinary letters and track infractions as needed;
  • Assist with hiring selection process and training of new and current staff;
  • Assist with maintaining safety awareness, reporting, and liability claims;
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.


REQUIRED SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • Five years security experience in a supervisory role;
  • Proficiency in Word and Excel and a basic understanding of PowerPoint;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal; 
  • Must be able to work varied hours and days, including evenings, weekends, and holidays;
  • Must be able to work extended hours due to event needs;
  • Must be able to stand, walk, and navigate stairs for extended periods.

Compensation

  • $55,000 - $70,000. NOTE: Wages will be determined based on factors such as candidate experience, qualifications, skill set and internal equity.
