The Buffalo Sabres are seeking an energetic, creative, and outgoing individual to serve as our Mascot Coordinator. This role is responsible for bringing our beloved mascot, Sabretooth, to life both on and off the ice.
The ideal candidate will deliver high-energy performances during home games, engage fans through memorable experiences, and represent the Sabres brand at community and promotional events. In addition to in-game performances, this role oversees the planning and coordination of all mascot appearances, manages costume maintenance, and works closely with the Game Presentation and Media & Content teams to enhance Sabretooth’s presence in the community and on social media. This position also oversees the Buffalo Bandits mascot program.
We’re looking for someone with previous mascot experience, strong crowd engagement skills, the ability to skate and dance, and a passion for entertaining and connecting with fans of all ages.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for performing at all Buffalo Sabres home games, including but not limited to skit ideation and execution, fan engagement, crowd interaction, etc.
- Represent the Buffalo Sabres at all public appearances as an ambassador of the Buffalo Sabres brand; ideate and execute ways to grow the Sabretooth brand in-game, in the community and on social media
- Serve in a support role for the Buffalo Sabres Game Presentation team efforts including but not limited to: skits, in-game activations, on-ice games, sponsorship requirements and other in-game needs as determined
- Work with the Media & Content team to create content and manage Sabretooth social media accounts
- Responsible for maintaining costume, wardrobe, props, etc; work with external vendors for new costume parts, props and promotional items
- Coordinate mascot appearance schedule, including but not limited to the in-game seat visit program and community events
- Oversee the Buffalo Bandits mascot program
- Other duties as assigned by the department manager or leadership
Requirements
- College diploma;
- 2+ years of experience as a mascot at the collegiate, minor, or professional league level; experience overseeing mascot program preferred
- Outgoing personality;
- Ability to ice skate;
- Ability to dance (professional dance training a plus);
- Good with spontaneous crowd-interaction;
- Good interpersonal skills (especially with children);
- Strong non-verbal communication skills;
- Organizational skills;
- Sales/marketing/customer service experience or background a plus;
- Must be reliable and punctual;
- Must be able to work extended and/or irregular hours, including nights, weekends, and Holidays.
Physical demands
While performing duties of the job, the employee will constantly be in costume. The employee will have to move about the arena and during events to interact and entertain clients/fans. Physical demands include working in excessive heat or cold, in a fast paced, active, and dynamic environment.
Height Requirement
Must be between the height of 5’10 – 6’2

Compensation
This is an hourly role and pays between $18.57 - $20.43 per hour. Note: Wages will be determined based on factors such as candidate experience, qualifications, skill set and internal equity.
