Summary
The Youth Hockey Coordinator assists in expanding the Buffalo Sabres youth hockey outreach. They play a vital role in growing the game of hockey by developing, managing, and executing school-based hockey programs and broader youth hockey initiatives.
Duties & Responsibilities
- School Program Management – “Street and Ball Hockey” Pillar
- Coordinate and manage in-school hockey programs (Students of the Game and Ball Hockey Battle Intramural program) in collaboration with local school districts and administrators
- Serve as the primary point of contact for schools regarding scheduling, logistics, and communications
- Lead on-site hockey sessions in school gymnasiums, community events, or ice rinks, ensuring a positive and safe learning environment
- Train and supervise interns involved in the school programs
- Youth Hockey Growth and Leadership Initiatives
- Manage and implement all programming related to the Buffalo Sabres Girls Youth Hockey pillar, including girls’ hockey clinics, practice takeovers, etc.
- Manage and implement all programming related to the Buffalo Sabres Leadership Youth Hockey Pillar, which provides learning opportunities for coaches, referees, etc.
- Create and promote avenues to highlight local youth hockey players and coaches throughout the season and work with internal stakeholders to highlight through game presentation and broadcast
- Represent the organization at team and community events, youth hockey clinics, etc.
- Track participation metrics and provide insights and recommendations to improve programming and outreach
- Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications for the Position:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration/Sports Management or related field preferred.
- Previous hockey playing experience a plus
- Coaching or teaching experience preferred
- Solid overall knowledge of the game of hockey
- Ability to ice skate at a proficient level preferred
- Ability to demonstrate and instruct fundamental hockey skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook

Compensation
This role pays between $17-$21 per hour. Note: Wages will be determined based on factors such as candidate experience, qualifications, skill set and internal equity.
