Social Media Intern
Summary
The Social Media Intern will work alongside the Buffalo Sabres social media team and assist in the daily operations of the department. This includes but is not limited to: day-to-day operational tasks, game day responsibilities for both the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bandits, and practice coverage.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Help manage social media channels for Sabretooth and team dog
- Assist the Sabres social director and coordinators on game days with overall social media production, as well as practices and event coverage as needed
- Assist in day-to-day management of Buffalo Sabres social media inboxes
- Create and share content on all Buffalo Bandits social media channels during every home game and select away games
- Upload and optimize videos on YouTube
- Ideate and execute concepts for Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bandits TikTok channels
- Assist in Buffalo Sabres social media influencer execution
- Be an active member of the social media team – pitch ideas, remain current with social media industry trends, generate creative and compelling content
- Maintains a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
- Other duties as requested or assigned.
Minimum Qualifications for the Position:
- Candidate must be at least 18 years of age
- Pursuing or completed a degree in Communications, Sports Management, Public Relations, or similar field
- Available to work evening, weekend, holiday hours as needed
- General understanding of social media platforms including X, Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Snapchat and YouTube
Critical Competencies
- Strong attention to detail, grammar, and proofreading skills
- Strong time management, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- General knowledge of Adobe Suite, specifically Photoshop and Premiere
- Passionate about customer service
- Must be dependable, willing to take initiative, and adapt to a variety of situations including a fast-paced environment
Compensation & Hours
This role pays $16.00 an hour. This is a part time role and must have the flexibility to work extended hours, evenings, weekends and holidays. This is a temporary position for the 2026-2027 season.
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This internship operations in both an office setting and in a live events setting. Live event coverage does consist of being around loud stadium noises and crowds.
Candidate must be able to perform physical tasks such as lifting and moving boxes up to 20 pounds.
