Summary

The Motion Designer will work on a variety of projects within the Creative Department.  This position is responsible for executing and helping conceive various animation, visual effects, and motion design projects.  Projects will be given with specific needs for execution as well as the opportunity to design and form ideas from scratch.  The designer will work closely with other team members and marketing leads as layouts, copy and content are finalized before assets are released.  This position will report to the Creative Director.

 

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Conceptualize and direct the development and execution of a wide variety of broadcast and game presentation design vehicles including title opens, logo designs, transitions, in-game features and graphics, bumps, teases, LED fascia animations, miscellaneous digital content, etc.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to push design and animation boundaries
  • Develop strong, sophisticated multilayered design and animation concepts
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with Marketing, Ticketing, Merchandising, and Business Development as well as other departments to develop and execute designs for the Buffalo Sabres and Buffalo Bandits brands
  • Collaborate with video editors and producers to integrate motion graphics seamlessly into video content and ensure consistency with branding guidelines
  • Develop visual concepts to effectively communicate messages and engage audiences
  • Meet project deadlines and manage multiple tasks to deliver high-quality motion design assets within budget and timelines
  • Keep abreast of new technology and motion design trends/advances
  • Excellent work ethic and passion for design
  • Must be able to respond in a positive fashion to constructive criticism/critique and work well in a team-based setting
  • Perform other related duties as deemed necessary or requested

 

Minimum Qualifications for the Position:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Media Study, Arts or Animation with at least 3 years of experience
  • Solid portfolio of professional caliber work that exhibits a strong understanding of functionality along with creativity
  • Extensive knowledge of Adobe After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator; Blender; Maya or C4D knowledge preferred
  • Proven ability to create unique concepts, expand and develop creative direction to fit various brands
  • Technically knowledgeable and savvy in a broadcast environment
  • Must be available to work some non-traditional hours; including nights, weekends, and whenever needed

Compensation

  • $57,512 to $79,082. NOTE: Wages will be determined based on factors such as candidate experience, qualifications, skill set and internal equity.
