Learn to Play Coach - School Program
Summary
The Buffalo Sabres are looking for experienced hockey coaches to help run the Learn to Play school program. The ideal candidate will have prior coaching and/or playing experience. Participants are in elementary school and may or may not have prior hockey experience. Our program is called Students of the Game, it is designed to engage the youngest generation of fans. This program provides a unique opportunity for students to play hockey at the most basic level, with a stick and ball. Created jointly by the National Hockey League Players’ Association (NHLPA) and the National Hockey League (NHL). The goal of Students of the Game is to inspire youth and welcome more families into the hockey community.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Set up/breakdown drills and games
- Instruct students in small groups and various stations
- Answer any questions teachers/students may have about the game/giveaways.
- Communicate effectively with teachers/students
Minimum Qualifications for the Position:
- 3+ years of coaching experience
- Must have day-time availability
- Hockey related knowledge
- Ability to instruct and demonstrate drills to participants
- Ability to communicate with teachers/students
- Working knowledge of hockey programs
Compensation:
This is a part-time role with a rate of $16 per hour. This role is seasonal and will start in August 2026 and run through April/May of 2027.
