Position Summary
Okanagan Hockey Club is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head Coach for the 18U AAA team for the 2026-2027 season. The Head Coach will lead all aspects of the team’s hockey operations, including player development, practices, game strategy, and recruitment. The successful candidate will work closely with the General Manager to ensure alignment between hockey operations and organizational goals.
This is a full-time position requiring strong leadership, organizational, and player development skills.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as Head Coach of the Okanagan Hockey Club 18U team.
- Plan and implement all on-ice activities, including weekly practices and season development plans.
- Organize and supervise the 18U team during road trips.
- Coordinate travel itineraries including transportation, accommodations, and team meals.
- Assist with coaching and bench support across Okanagan Hockey Club teams as needed.
- Build and manage the 18U roster.
- Scout and recruit players for the 18U program.
- Support recruitment efforts across all Okanagan Hockey Club teams.
- Develop athletes to reach the next level of hockey.
- Support players in becoming successful student-athletes both on and off the ice.
- Maintain high standards of conduct on and off the ice.
- Enforce team rules fairly and consistently to promote safety, accountability, and excellence.
- Assist with development and recruitment for spring and summer programs.
Qualifications
- Previous hockey coaching experience at the U18, junior, or elite youth level preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
- Experience in player development and recruitment
- Ability to manage team travel and operations
- Passion for developing high-level hockey players and student-athletes
