About this role:
The Senior Manager, Championship Communications is a vital part of the Championship Communications team - overseeing our media operations/experience program across all championships, leading comms/PR for the U.S. National Development Program and providing various support for USGA championships. This position touches many areas of the Championship Communications operation, from the behind-the-scenes preparation to rolling up your sleeves and jumping in on-site at the USGA’s prestigious championships held annually around the country. It requires development of positive and transparent relationships with key stakeholder groups, including media, players, host sites, vendors and host communities. This position has one direct report, a Coordinator, Championship Communications.
What you'll do:
- Partner with Championship Communications leads and Championship Operations teams to create the right dynamics for successful media operations by developing and executing onsite media experience plans at each Open and select amateur championships.
- Work with all operations vendors supporting USGA Championship Communications, including planning, contractual agreements and on-site training and oversight. Includes AV, F&B, tent provider, etc.
- Develop and implement an integrated communications and PR strategy for the U.S. National Development Program that aligns with program goals and objectives.
- Support championship leads at several USGA championships, and lead championship communications efforts at other non-televised championships, as needed.
- Execute and manage communications plans for the U.S. Girls’ Junior.
Where you'll be:
- This role will be based at our Liberty Corner, NJ campus on a hybrid schedule. Employees are expected to spend 3 days per week working in the office, between Monday - Thursday.
What you bring:
- Bachelors degree with a focus in Communications, Media Relations, PR, Journalism, or related field; or equivalent work experience
- 7+ years of relevant experience in sports communications
- General communications, media relations, organizational and relationship-building skills; familiarity with special events operations and the ability to multi-task; a positive attitude and team-oriented mentality; ability to display consistent initiative that reflects innovative thinking
- Familiarity with golf, USGA championships and history is preferred
- Knowledge of reporting and PR-related systems and tools (Meltwater) is a plus

Salary Range: $95,000 - $105,000
The annual base salary range for this position is $95,000 - $105,000. This range represents what we reasonably expect to pay as starting base compensation for this role. Compensation is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including skill set, depth of experience, and relevant certifications.
