About this role:
The USGA is seeking a paralegal professional to become an integral part of a collaborative and dynamic six-member Legal Department.  This position will work directly with in-house counsels, as well as with a variety of business departments within the organization, including Corporate Hospitality, Partnerships, Merchandise, and the U.S. National Development Program.  This position will help manage the USGA’s Safeguarding Program and Intellectual Property portfolio.  In addition, they will help with general corporate governance and administrative functions.  

What you’ll do:
  • Review and draft agreements in a variety of subject matter areas, including hospitality, partnerships, licensing, consulting and vendor services agreements.  
  • Member of the USGA Safeguarding Team, with primary responsibility to review and update program policies and manage compliance by participants, including background screening and SafeSport trainings. 
  • Work with in-house counsel in managing the Intellectual Property portfolio, including maintenance of trademark registrations and renewals, issuing cease and desist letters, and draft trademark licensing agreements.
  • Work with in-house counsel or independently manage ad-hoc projects or matters as needed. 
  • Manage Legal department contract execution and the contract management system through the DocuSign platform.
  • Manage Legal department billing system and other administrative items, including processing of outside counsel invoices within NetSuite accounting platform.
  • Work with in-house counsel in preparing and managing state grant applications and corporate governance related matters 
Where you’ll be:
  • This role will be based at our Liberty Corner, NJ campus on a hybrid schedule. Employees are expected to spend 3 days per week working in the office, between Monday - Thursday. 
What you bring:
  • 5+ years in a paralegal role or experience drafting agreements.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Adobe Pro, PowerPoint, Microsoft Teams and DocuSign. 
  • Experience with contract drafting, revising, and negotiations. 
  • Paralegal training or experience.
  • Clear and effective communicator.
  • Meticulous writing skills.
  • A team player who is also able to work independently.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects or tasks concurrently and adjust to shifting priorities.
  • Well-organized and detailed oriented. 
  • Proactive tendencies, demonstrating strong organizational skills and great follow-up, and ability to oversee projects from start to finish.
  • Superior interpersonal skills, with ease in working with people up and down the organizational hierarchy.
  • Enthusiasm to work for mission-driven organization.
  • General knowledge of trademark registration and maintenance (preferred but not required).
  • General knowledge of data privacy issues (preferred but not required). 

Salary Range: $90,000- $100,000
The annual base salary range for this position is $90,000 - $100,000. This range represents what we reasonably expect to pay as starting base compensation for this role. Compensation is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including skill set, depth of experience, and relevant certifications. In addition to your base compensation, the USGA provides competitive benefit offerings for all full-time employees.
