About this role:
The Manager, Championships will play a critical role in the planning and execution of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball and U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championships, maintaining a balanced portfolio of responsibilities across both outside-the-ropes operations and inside-the-ropes competition support. This individual will also contribute to Rules Office operations and competition-related responsibilities at the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship. Reporting to the Director, Championships, this person will work closely with host clubs, volunteers, USGA departments, and championship officials to deliver best-in-class championship experiences. The role also includes contributing to departmental projects and supporting other USGA championships as assigned.
Where you’ll be:
- This role will be based at our Liberty Corner, NJ campus. Remote employees may be considered on a case-by-case basis. This role has required travel to rotating host sites for the planning and conduct of championships. Anticipated travel is approximately 80-100 days per year.
What you’ll do:
- Serve as a key contributor to the operational planning and on-site execution of the U.S. Women’s Amateur Four-Ball and U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championships
- Manage key outside-the-ropes logistics including volunteer coordination, food and beverage, transportation, accommodations, signage, player services, vendor relationships, and on-site USGA office operations.
- Support inside-the-ropes responsibilities such as Rules documentation, course marking, pace of play planning, and general competition preparation
- Lead Rules official support at the U.S. Women’s Amateur, including event communication, credentialing, equipment preparation, and on-site coordination for Rules Office logistics and staff support
- Conduct site visits and support host club planning, budget tracking, and development of host manuals
- Build strong relationships with host committees, club staff, and local volunteers to ensure a professional and welcoming championship atmosphere
- Serve at other USGA championships as assigned, contributing to course marking, pace of play monitoring, Rules administration, or assisting other championship team members
- Contribute to cross-functional projects aimed at enhancing departmental efficiency and championship best practices
What you bring to the USGA:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent
- 4+ years of experience in golf administration or a related field
- Demonstrated ability in golf tournament administration (both inside and outside the ropes) at the national, state, or regional level is preferred
- Working knowledge of the Rules of Golf and experience with course setup and marking (score of 90 or higher on PGA/USGA Rules Exam preferred)
- Strong interpersonal skills and a professional demeanor in working with host clubs, committees, and vendors
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail
- A collaborative spirit, strong communication skills, and a service-oriented mindset
- Comfort with public speaking and working in fast-paced championship environments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfort learning internal systems
- Willingness and ability to travel frequently
Salary Range: $68,000 - $80,000
The annual base salary range for this position is $68,000 - $80,000. This range represents what we reasonably expect to pay as starting base compensation for this role. Compensation is based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including skill set, depth of experience, and relevant certifications.
