About this role: 

  • The Machinist will combine knowledge of mechanical technology with knowledge of electrical and electronic circuitry. The Machinist will operate, test, calibrate, and maintain mechanical/electro-mechanical equipment. The Machinist will work with other Technicians and Engineers to ensure testing equipment is operating effectively.

What you'll do:

  • Assist in design, interpret drawings and specifications, and perform mechanical fabrication
  • Ensure the calibration of measurement tools and instruments
  • Install, maintain, and repair testing systems and electro-mechanical equipment
  • Assist in the development and fabrication of electronic components
  • Document operational procedures for mechanical equipment
  • Support and participate in field testing
  • Partner closely with R&D, Testing, and Conformance staff within the Equipment Standards department

Where you'll be: 

  • This role will be based at our campus in Pinehurst, North Carolina. Candidates may be expected to travel to our Liberty Corner, New Jersey campus for training prior to the Machine Shop opening on our Pinehurst campus. The anticipated start date for this role is in May 2024.

What you bring:

  • Required:
    • Experience using conventional machine tools and equipment (e.g. lathe, mill, grinder, etc.)
    • Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings
    • Diagnose, calibrate, and repair basic electrical instruments
    • Ability to verify dimensions of parts using precision instruments
    • Basic mechanical assembly skills
    • Ability to perform preventative maintenance on mechanical equipment
    • Ability to work independently
  • Preferred:
    • 3+ years of shop experience
    • Ability to program and use CNC machine tools
    • CAD experience, SolidWorks/SolidCAM
    • Training instrument calibration
    • Computer skills, including use of Microsoft Word and Excel
    • Experience in an ISO9001-controlled environment is a plus
