JOB OVERVIEW

The Southern Texas PGA is seeking a dynamic, forward-thinking, and highly organized leader to serve as our Prestige Tour Director. The Prestige Tour is our highest skilled tour of the STPGA Junior Golf Program, featuring 45 premier 2-day 36-hole tournaments annually. 

In an increasingly competitive junior golf marketplace, the Director will be the strategic visionary responsible for elevating our brand, implementing fresh ideas, and ensuring the Prestige Tour remains the top choice for elite junior golfers. 

This role oversees a $1.3M budget, manages two full-time employees, interns, and area staff and ensures that every single tournament is executed at a PGA TOUR-caliber level. JOB DESCRIPTION

As the Prestige Tour Director, your responsibilities will span hands-on event execution, strategic leadership, and financial management. We have grouped responsibilities into these categories. 

·         Tournament Operations: Oversee the execution of 45 high-profile, 2-day events, which includes Scheduling and Contracting, the Advance Official at roughly 25-35% of events, on-site tournament operations, and administering Rules of Golf in accordance to our STPGA Rules and Regulations.  

·         Team Leadership: Directly manage and mentor two full-time employees, while leading, training, and inspiring a rotating roster of interns and area staff to deliver elite-level customer service, consistency between all events, and first class tournament operations. 

·         Logistics & Asset Management: Maintain meticulous organization of player tee gifts and inventory levels. Making sure all gifts match STPGA standards and promotes our brand along with corporate partners that support the tour. This position also ensures tournament equipment and capital assets are maintained to put on a first-class experience at each event.
 
·         Strategic Growth & Market Positioning: Analyze the competitive landscape and pioneer new ideas to distinctively position the Prestige Tour as the premier junior golf circuit. Work with the Texas Junior Golf Alliance to ensure exemptions are allocated correctly and for the best benefit of our players and customers. Ensure the Tour Championship, Ben Hogan Matches, and Bayou Cup are all positioned to showcase our top players but most importantly, events that our customers want to play in each year!  

·         Budgetary Oversight: Confidently manage an annual budget of $1.3M, ensuring fiscal responsibility, accurate forecasting, and strategic allocation of resources. Maintain in-house financials with tee gifts, paying area staff, travel expenses, entry fees, etc. to meet and exceed budget goals for the tour. 

·         Partnerships: Work alongside senior leadership to develop and execute partnerships to better enhance the player experience and overall tour’s reputation. This also improves the financial success of the tour and overall business with our Foundation.

·         Exceptional Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with a proven track record of effectively managing full-time reports, collaborating with stakeholders, and communicating with junior golfers and their families.
 
·         Elite Organizational Skills: The ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment, masterfully managing a massive tournament schedule, large budgets, and extensive equipment inventory.
  
·         Golf Industry Expertise: A deep understanding of competitive golf tournament operations and a strong, practical command of the USGA Rules of Golf.
 
·         Adaptability & Grit: A hands-on leader who is willing to put in the travel and hours required to run a premier, year-round competitive tour. The STPGA is looking for candidates who bring with them a proactive and forward-thinking mindset, is extremely detail oriented, great at communication, and has a passion for Junior Golf. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS

·         Ability to drive a truck and trailer and pick up 50 pounds
·         College Degree with experience in event management, golf background, tournament administration.
·         Strong working knowledge of the Rules of Golf and knowledge of BlueGolf tournament software. 
·         Strong work ethic, organized, and detail oriented. 
·         Excellent communication skills
·         Ability to work weekends, travel outside of the Houston market, and work extended hours during tournament days. 
 
COMPENSATION AND BENEFIT PACKAGE

The STPGA has put forth a competitive package with a variety of benefits for this position.
 
·         Annual Salary based on experience: $70,000 - $80,000
·         Relocation allowance 
·         Unlimited PTO per our employee handbook

·         STPGA branded gear and clothing will be provided annually. 
·         The STPGA office is closed between Christmas and New Years Holiday each year.
·         STPGA Staff Members also have free access at Willow Creek Golf Club and Windrose Golf Club to enjoy the great game of golf. 
·         When traveling for work, the STPGA provides work trucks for your travels and a company credit card for work-related expenses
