The WTA Marketing department is looking for a multi-skilled, creative, and well-organized social media professional to join our social media team. 
The Social Media Manager will be tasked with elevating the standard of content across our tournament channels.
This person will work as part of a lean team, running the WTA’s social tournament channel output to help meet our objectives of engaging and growing our global fan base. 
This person will conceive, develop and implement innovative content concepts in alignment with our editorial, video production and brand/graphics team to promote each of these events. This person will be able to capitalize on key narratives within the sport and communicate and package the key narratives related to each tournament all year round in a social-first way.
The role will require this individual to post daily; work as part of the social and digital team, and as a member of the marketing department they will also be charged with working collaboratively with other internal departments including commercial, PR, communications as well as our external partners.
A positive attitude and flexible working approach is an absolute requirement in what is a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. He/she will be proactive, inquisitive and must have an excellent knowledge of tennis.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
  • Developing and implementing the WTA Tour's social media strategy for our owned events.        
  • Day-to-day management of WTA tournament channels.
  • Day-to-day collaboration with WTA digital and social team.
  • Day-to-day collaboration with our external partners.
  • Regularly devise, pitch and execute content ideas for players and tournaments.
  • Building and maintaining positive working relationships, business wide.
  • Being the guardian of the WTA's tone of voice on our social media platforms.
  • Delivery of partner digital rights on social media in coordination with the commercial department.
  • Managing projects with the broader Marketing Team (Editorial, Creative, Production) to create unique content around key initiatives. 
  • Demonstrating excellent community management, true ‘fan engagement’ and two-way communication with supporters. 
  • Working with our analytics team to optimize output; reporting on reach, engagement, referral and growth metrics based on data.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience running sizeable accounts in the sports industry, preferably in the live sports industry.
  • Experience working with a team of people across different time zones.

Required Skills and Competencies:
  • A deep understanding of digital, technology and cultural trends, specifically as it relates to the wider sports social industry landscape. 
  • Deep knowledge of and passion for tennis, particularly women’s tennis, its personalities and tournament structure.
  • Intermediate level graphic and video editing skills. Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop and Rush and/or Premiere Pro. Experience with live video clipping tools (e.g. WSC, Grabyo, Wildmoka).
  • A strong copywriting capability, being able to craft captions for various visuals on different platforms (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, YouTube)
  • A creative, confident, passionate individual and who understands effective storytelling on social. Proactivity and bravery to test and learn based on emerging trends, memes, or new content formats across social.
  • A team player who must be comfortable working under their own initiative, specifically when leading social at onsite events.
  • Someone who understands the importance of tone of voice and organizational values. 
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, including business travel across a truly global workforce and collaborating seamlessly across time zones.
  • Someone who is comfortable to make decisions in high pressure situations.

Travel Requirements:
Will require domestic and international travel.
Supervisory Responsibilities: 
Position Type/Work Schedule:
Full Time, 40 hours a week. This role will require weekend & evening work based on tournament location and schedule, both remotely and onsite.

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate. The passage of employees through the work area is average and normal.
Physical Demands
The employee is required to sit for long periods; use close/distant vision; hear using the telephone; bend at the waist and knee; communicate verbally and electronically with worldwide constituency; use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard. Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
