WTA Ventures is the commercial arm of the WTA, created in March 2023 as part of the WTA’s strategic partnership with CVC Capital Partners. It aims to build upon the strong legacy of the WTA by further elevating the profile of women’s tennis and accelerating commercial growth for the benefit of fans, players, tournaments, and all stakeholders in the sport.
The Digital Commercial Revenue Manager is a key role; as we seek to transform our digital commercial propositions, deliver great value for our Partners, and develop new direct-to-consumer revenue streams. With the responsibility to grow commercial revenue across our digital estate, work with experienced sales and strategy agencies, as well as working very closely with our Product, Marketing and Tech teams. Collaborate and work with our Social Content & Editorial teams on a daily basis. Own and drive the digital commercial revenue KPIs – and with the support of our Performance & Insight team, will measure and track the initiatives that are bringing the most value to our Partnerships and business. 

What we need:
We need someone who truly understands digital advertising, sponsorship and sales – and who revels in innovation, strategy and creativity  to build unique digital partnership opportunities, as well developing new revenue streams such as affiliate marketing. We are investing heavily in improving the experience and feature set of our owned channels, and believe that in doing so – and focusing on digital, we will not only significantly enhance the user experience for our fans, but that we will also substantially increase our inventory and range of sponsor-able assets.

To be successful in this role, you truly understand how to identify and package social media campaigns, how to develop a premium advertising offering on websites and apps, and how to derive the best yield from monetizing content off platform (e.g. ad revenues from YouTube). In addition, as a natural collaborator, the opportunity to work with our Product and Marketing teams to build a new affiliate business by sourcing and negotiating first-class retailers in all of our regional markets is something that excites you. You have exceptional contract negotiation skills and you are highly proficient at building Partner relationships. 

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 
Digital sponsorship & advertising
  • Working closely with our Social Media Content and Web & App Product & Design teams, help identify, value and execute digital advertising and sponsorship packages and campaigns. This includes:
    • Creating go-to-market solutions for display advertising and sponsorable assets on our website and app for prospective and existing Partners.
    • Collaborating, briefing creative requirements, and working with our Social Media teams to create first-rate content social campaigns for our Partners.
    • Working with our internal Partnerships & Commercial team, and our external agency support to identify potential partners and form compelling digital sales propositions for inclusion in our broader sponsorship deals.
    • Constantly sourcing new go-to-market sales models and outreach programs, to attain prospective Brands & Partners.
Sales & Operations
  • Develop a sales model, working with internal and external Partnership teams, to enable the sale of premium ads, assets and video ads to Brands – creating media packages for sale and overseeing the reporting and targeting capability for our Brands and Partners. This includes:
    • Working with external AdOps support where applicable to run multiple campaigns, targeting and reporting.
    • Must be comfortable using multiple publishing platforms, in particular Google Ad Manager.
    • Working with our Insight and Reporting teams to ensure we provide our Partners with frequent reporting. and demonstrate the value of their media investment with us.
Direct to consumer
  • Support our affiliate sales business, by identifying and negotiating commission terms with multiple retailer partners who sell products that align to our audience (tennis, sportswear, etc) 
  • Ensure we have the right retail partners and who sell products that our fans want, in order to maximise our affiliate sales. Our Product & Web teams will then create a highly optimised sales journey experience using data, personalisation and eCommerce conversion strategies to ensure our fans are directed to our affiliate partner website to make their purchase.
  • Work closely with Marketing & CRM teams, to ensure we appropriately target fans with our affiliate retailer offering across email and with on-site merchandising, in order to deliver revenue growth and meet targets.
Education and Experience:
  • Experience with selling digital sponsorship and advertising packages to Brands and Partners.
  • A passion for Sports, and ideally experience working in the Sports industry.
  • Superb knowledge of digital advertising and sponsorship - with experience of creating and packaging media plans & marketing themes to suit our Partners.

Position Type/Work Schedule:
  • Full Time, 40 hours a week. Typical schedule will be Monday-Friday.
