Position Title: Manager of Adult Leagues
Reports to: Managing Director of Provider Relations
Oversees: Adult League operations across all regions, including leadership of Regional League Coordinators; provides direction to seasonal event staff and volunteers.
Location: Remote work within the Pacific Northwest boundaries (Oregon, Washington, Alaska, Northern Idaho).
Residence in the Greater Portland Metro area is strongly preferred.

Established in 1904, the United States Tennis Association Pacific Northwest (USTA PNW) is a 501c3 non-profit organization working to promote and develop the growth of tennis by providing access for all. As one of the 17 sections of the USTA, the national governing body of the sport of tennis, USTA PNW serves more than 1.3M tennis players, 200+ tennis facilities, and provides low-cost RecTennis afterschool and summer parks programs to 40,000+ participants. USTA PNW has cultivated over 300 community partnerships including schools, public parks, recreation, and shared spaces across four states. Key Responsibilities: 
1. Strategic Execution & League Growth:
  • Oversee implementation of the Adult League strategic plan, ensuring alignment with Section priorities and USTA National initiatives.
  • Establish annual calendars, participation targets, and performance benchmarks.
  • Monitor participation trends, retention, and entry-level growth (2.5/first-time players).
  • Identify and recommend opportunities for responsible expansion across regions.
2. Regional League Team Leadership:
  • Oversee and direct Regional League Coordinators across all regions.
  • Standardize league processes and service expectations Section-wide.
  • Facilitate regular team meetings and individual performance check-ins.
  • Monitor regional performance and implement operational improvements as needed.
3. Section Championships & Event Operations:
  • Oversee planning and execution of Adult League Section Championships.
  • Direct site selection, host partner coordination, and operational logistics, ensuring delivery within approved budgets.
  • Recruit, train, and oversee seasonal event staff and volunteers.
  • Provide leadership during championship events to ensure high-quality player experience and regulatory compliance.
4. Rules, Governance & Stakeholder Engagement:
  • Serve as the Section authority on rule interpretation, eligibility, and grievance resolution.
  • Oversee consistent application of league rules and regulatory standards.
  • Serve as liaison to USTA National League staff.
  • Collaborate with Competition, RecTennis, and Marketing to support advancement pathways and participation growth.
  • Maintain strong relationships with providers, captains, and key partners.
5. Financial Stewardship & Performance:
  • Manage and adhere to approved Adult League and Section Championship budgets.
  • Partner with Data and Accounting to evaluate participation trends and financial performance.
  • Provide data-informed recommendations to support continuous improvement and sustainable growth.

Perform additional duties and support strategic initiatives as directed by the Managing Director.

Supervisory Responsibilities: 
  • Provide operational leadership and performance oversight to Regional League Coordinators.
  • Conduct regular team and individual performance meetings.
  • Recruit and oversee seasonal championship staff and volunteers.

Internal Relationships:
  • Reports directly to the Managing Director of Provider Relations.
  • Collaborates with the Manager of Competition to ensure alignment across advancement pathways and shared events.
  • Partners with RecTennis leadership to support conversion opportunities from recreational to competitive play.
  • Provides leadership and direction to Regional League Coordinators to maintain consistency and service standards across all regions.
  • Partners with the Marketing team to support league recruitment campaigns, messaging, and calendar alignment.
  • Collaborates with the Data Analyst to monitor participation trends, performance benchmarks, and financial performance indicators.
  • Works with Accounting to support revenue tracking, budget adherence, and Section Championship reconciliation.
  • Partners with Human Resources on staffing, performance feedback, and employee development matters as appropriate.

External Relationships: 
  • Maintains strong working relationships with league providers.
  • Engages with league captains and team managers across all regions to support service consistency and league growth.
  • Develops and sustains partnerships with Section Championship host sites and event partners.
  • Serves as a liaison with USTA National League staff and representatives on matters related to league operations and advancement.
  • Coordinates with officials and event vendors supporting Section Championship delivery.
  • Collaborates with community tennis partners to support league growth, retention, and access.
  • Engages and supports volunteers contributing to Adult League programming.

Key Performance Indicators:
When reviewing this position during the season, the following will serve as performance indicators: 
Participation & Growth:
  • Year-over-year growth in total Adult League registrations.
  • Growth in entry-level league participation (2.5 and first-time players).
  • Sustained participation and stability across all service regions.
Unique Player Growth:
  • Year-over-year increase in unique Adult League participants.
  • Growth in new-to-league players.
  • Expanded participation within underrepresented divisions or geographic areas.
Retention & Engagement:
  • Year-over-year participant retention rate.
  • Multi-season participation rate (players returning for more than one season annually).
  • Captain retention and engagement levels.
Financial Stewardship & Resource Management:
  • Adherence to approved Adult League and Section Championship budgets.
  • Accurate forecasting and registration projections.
  • Responsible allocation of resources to support sustainable growth.
Championship & Operational Excellence:
  • Successful and timely delivery of all Adult League Section Championships.
  • Accurate team advancement and regulatory compliance.
  • Positive feedback from players, captains, and host partners.
Team & Regional Performance:
  • Operational consistency across regions.
  • Professional development and performance progression of Regional League Coordinators.
  • Effective implementation of standardized league processes.
Regulatory Compliance & Governance:
  • Consistent application of league rules and eligibility standards.
  • Timely and accurate reporting.
  • Minimal advancement, eligibility, or compliance errors.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience.
  • Preferred residence in the Greater Portland Metro area.
  • Proven strong organizational skills. 
  • Proven strong communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability of strong multi-tasking skills. 
  • Ability to follow strict rules and regulations. 
  • Knowledge of the Pacific Northwest preferred. 
  • Knowledge of listed USTA Programs & Services preferred. 
  • Strong computer skills. 
  • Ability to work well with others. 
  • Ability to work independently. 
  • Availability to work frequent evening and weekend hours. 
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.

Conditions of Hire:
  • Must be able to pass background checks and Motor Vehicle check.
  • Must be able to prove authorization to work in the United States per our E-Verify vendor. 
  • Must have the ability to be SafePlay approval and remain SafePlay approved throughout tenure at USTA PNW.
  • Must complete the required USTA SafeSport online education course. Link provided with offer of employment. Online course takes approximately 60 minutes and you will be paid for your time.

Travel Demands:
Travel across assigned areas to promote and develop programs, attend various events, meetings, and trainings as needed.

Compensations and Benefits:
  • Compensation salary range between $69,000-$73,000 based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and relevant work experience.
  • Salary, Bonus potential, and Paid-Time-Off details included in Offer Letter or other communications from the Human Resources team. 
  • 12 Annual Paid holidays each calendar year.
  • 401k eligibility per plan rules (up to 4% company match, after one year of employment) and/or ROTH 401k.
